Day 13 off hydrocodone c/t, in a funk

Well, it's day 13 for me off hydrocodone. I'm proud of myself for being able to quit. . . . but I'm just in a "funk" today. I didn't sleep well last night & my gut is STILL not "right." I've been able to find things to do on most other days but not today. I'm kind of afraid to stray far from the bathroom anyway though. I was going to go to lunch w/my best friend, which would have forced me to get out & do something. . . . but she had to cancel b/c of a sick child. I'm hoping that my gut will be straightened out soon. I'm just tired of fighting all the w/d symptoms & can't wait for the day when there's not a w/d symptom lurking around the corner. My back has been hurting the past few days too & that doesn't help matters. Don't mean to sound like I'm having a pity party b/c that's certainly not the case. . .. just not having a "GREAT" day & could use some positive feedback. Thank you to everyone on this forum, you're the best!

Well, I'm not a physician but I know there's quite a few of us on here that quit hydrocodone cold turkey (c/t) & were not under a dr's care. Some people have done it under a dr's care & they've been put on Xanax or Valium. . . . &/or Clonidine. The Clonidine helps w/the hot/cold chills that you can expect to experience for at least 4 days, sometimes an entire week. The Xanax or Valium is just to help w/the anxiety and restlessness of the w/d. I'm not going to lie, it is NOT fun. My first 4 days or so were THE WORST.  On days 1-3, I was miserable. . . .hot/cold, restless, flipping & flopping in bed b/c I couldn't settle down, couldn't sleep. I made myself get out of bed on day 4 & take a short walk, which helped IMMENSELY even though I DID NOT want to do it. I got out of bed & exercised more on the days after & it helped A LOT. My stomach upset really didn't hit until day 5 or 6???? Immodium AD helps w/this a lot. This is just your stomach trying to get itself back to normal after being so used to the meds for so long. Like I said, you can do this by yourself but should you start feeling scared about your symptoms, I would call your physician immediately. Mine knew I was going through w/d but didn't offer any meds to assist. A lot of people use the "Thomas Recipe" to help w/the w/d symptoms. This information, as well as others can be found at the top of the page under "Health Pages." I do suggest taking a multivitamin during your w/d too. That helped me quite a bit. One of the best things you can do is post to this forum. People will give you advice & support and they know what you've been through. One thing is for sure, every day w/out Vicodin is a GREAT day. I hope you are able to make the decision to quit. I was on hydrocodone for ~6 years & am guessing I'll be battling some "demons" for quite some time. . . . .but it WILL be worth it!

You're not having a "pity party"...just hang in there and I'm sure you've heard this a million times and probably said this a million times, but it's part of the WD process; some days will be good, some not so good...

If you can't have lunch with your friend, how about going for a walk alone with your Ipod or doing something outdoors? It will do wonders...
Congrats on day 13! tomorrow will be 2 weeks for you! SMILE!
