Day 19 and 6.5 hours of sleep !!!!

So today is starting out really good for me, I actually slept more than four hours, granted, I took Trazadone, which probably isn't the "purist's" way to approach my sleeplessness, but at this point I will do anything, I took it years ago to sleep and had no problems when I stopped taking it. I feel like I can get some things accomplished instead of laying around whining about how tired I am (to myself) My 5 year old daughter is going to have to go to Urgent Care today, if she shows no improvement.I don't think its flu, I think its a URI, and all the phlegm is what is making her nauseated. Keep her in your thoughts for me! So I am not going to jinx myself by saying I turned a corner today, but I feel better. Im not feeling sad, hopeless or anxious at the moment. Maybe all those vitamins are helping, I am not going to overanalyze it, I am just going to enjoy feeling good at this very moment. Have a wonderful day everyone, and thanks again for all your support. XOXO C.

I agree with you also, usually sleeping meds make me feel weird and I don't want to be dependent on something else! I plan to use it for 2 months tops, unless my dr, wants to prescribe clonidine (sp?) I am not familiar with this drug, but have unusually low bp so I don't know it that's a good idea for me. One of these nights Im not going to take trazadone and see what happens, when I have a day I can nap if I have to. Thank you for your support and advice.Xo C.

Hi..I am sending a get well prayer out for the little one. The good old sleep issue..I went months with very strange sleep and then it got to where all I wanted to do is sleep..I called it my "catch up sleep". I can not take any of those sleeping pills becasue they keep me up and very spacy the next day. I was able to take the clonidine (light BP med) after 22 days of no sleep and at night only for a little over a month. I DO NOT like to take any of those types of meds becasue they mess up my natural sleep pattern. Right now I do understand you can use it, but if you start taking the Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium and Zinc at night, this will help when it kicks in for sleep, as it relaxes the muscles too. The Melatonin is a good one, as that is the natural sleep hormone we produce.
I think you are doing Great..Just keep in the moment and take it day by day. As long time users it is working on staying clean that takes the cake..YOU can do it. It will take TONS of Life Style changes but it sure will be worth it as you get better and better and clearer and clearer as the Brain Balances back..Wishing you the best.
Bless

I take 100mg... I have been on it for years and it works really well for me personally.. My nursing advice is not to take over 150mg of the Trazadone. Honestly, in all my years of nursing, that's the standard dose. I think adding Melatonin is a great idea. Also, maybe try to call your Dr for a RX of Clonadine. It works well. You have for to get some sleep love! Keep me posted please!

Thanks so much for the support, I don't want to take trazadone, but its all I have right now, but am making an apt with my old sub dr. so he can give me something non narcotic that works better. He told me to contact him if I wasn't sleeping or my anxiety was too bad, I really don't want to even look at his face right now, but he is probably the only one who can help with this. Is it odd to sleep that long after Day 19? Ive heard some horror stories, though, about not sleeping at all for 45 days. then good stories about sleep too.

I take 150 mgs also, with 2 melatonin and valerian root, but all that has only afforded me abut 4 hours of sleep, then I cant go back to sleep, so Im usually awake for 20 hours or so a day, but I did get more sleep last night, I wonder how much trazadone can you take safely? do you know?

hey carrie anne ive been reading all your posts, they are all good, this one caught my eye because of the sleep.  wow!  look at you!  six and a half so early in !!!!!!   that is great and im really happy for you.  yes, a good night's sleep can make a gigantic difference in outlook.  as far as I know, trazadone is not a narcotic and considered 'ok' to take ... at least it is according to the treatment program ive been in.  I don't like that drug because it has a particularly vicious list of side effects.  sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she is ok soon.  keep up the great work!  happy for you

How many mg of trazodone are you taking? I am taking 150 mg it only gives me 1-2 hours sleep so I added some melatonin and valerian now get about 4 hours but I wake up for about 10 min every hour then go back to sleep.

Great Post Carrie!!! Your going to feel better every single day!!! I don't think there's anything wrong with taking the Trazadone at all. Some people just have insomnia ( myself included ) I am soooo proud of you! Please keep me posted in Baby Girl! I have been praying for both of you!
