Day #2 off oxycodone and just found out I have Lyme Disease. Talk about aches!

by coastalgirl, Jun 30, 2007 12:00AM
As I was tapering off oxy last 2 wk, I noticed I had LOTS of aches, pains and swelling in my joints - plus the searing pain in my stomach for which oxy was initially prescribed.  So, living in northeast among many ticks, decided to have Lyme test for hell of it. Test came back positive first day off 3 oxy's day.  Talk about insult to injury with aches and pains. The oxy's musthave masked most of the lyme pain, so I have no idea really how long I've had it.

Can't take NSAIDs due to family history - anything OTC for aches anyone can recommend?  I may go to the ER for oxy of my stomach doesn't feel better but give bottle to husband. I need it but can't control myself with it which is why I am here... I wonder if the Lyme could cause the abdominal pain...

So, guess just looking for remedies for aches and pains.  Thank you - this group is so knowledgable and empathetic.

Don't really know of any OTC pain meds that work. After taking real pain meds for years, seems like Tylenol, Advil, etc., don't help me very much.

I do have problems with my joints though due to years of playing sports when I was younger. I have found that hot baths/showers really seem to help those. I have one shoulder that really gives me problems. If I slept on it, the pain is pretty bad in the morning. So, I will just stand in the shower for an extra 5-10 minutes letting the hot water pound on that shoulder. I get the water as hot as I can stand it. Also, do some light exercises and stretch real good.

I have also purchased some of those heat packs that really seems to work. Forget the brand name.

Good luck and hope this helps.
