Day #3 - Can't stay Hydrated!

Hello All,

Well I am on day #3. So far no depression and no cravings to speak of. However, no matter how much water I drink (up to 10-12 bottles/day) along with other liquids, I cannot get hydrated. The back of my throat is constantly dry. I am also very congested in my sinuses. I have been taking Benadryl and Alka-Seltzer Cold remedies to alleviate my congestion, but it barely works.

Any suggestions?

the ER can give you bags and bags of fluids if you go to them and explain if the waters not working.

Try drinking some pedialyte... its for kids.. get the unflavored kind.. the flavored stuff is pretty gross.. Your electrolyte balance might be thrown off..
Are you taking any meds that cause dry mouth??

Just because you have dry mouth doesn't mean you're dehydrated. It's a common withdrawal symptom and one I get every time. Sinus problems are bad, too.

The only thing I am taking is Clonodine 3x/day. I am not sure whether or not it causes dry mouth.

It's not really my mouth that is dry. It seems like it's just this one spot on the back of my throat. It is very irratating. I should correct myself as well,in addition to the Clonodine I am taking Benadryl, and Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold for my sinuses.

benedryl can do that too you.  Does that to me.......hate it.   If  your drinking that much......your hydrated.  Most likely the otc meds.  You sound like your doing really well. Very happy for you.

I really do feel okay other than the symptoms I've described above. I feel that I am very fortunate not to be suffering from the depression a lot of you have talked about. Actually for me it's just the opposite. I am very happy with myself for making the decision to quit. I hope I don't crash later on (meaning that I get very, very depressed).

Gatoraid is actually the best when detoxing. Replaces your electrolytes. Even gave it to me in rehab

Look up clonidine it gives me wicked bad dry mouth!!!

Most likely the clonidine, its known for causing dry mouth.  Coupled with the decongestion medicine, you should be spittin' cotton!
