Day 3 Cocodamol/Codeine withdrawal

So, I'm 62 hours without pills, and its definitely getting worse, I ache all over, the anxiety is the worst, along with restless legs but I'm here now, and I'm not sure it can get much worse so hopefully soon I'll be out the other side.  Last night was horrible.  I had around 3 hours broken sleep, night sweats and the most awful haunting nightmares when I was sleeping.  I've taken the l-tyrosine and B6 this morning, I'll try and force some food down me shortly and then take the rest of the vitamins.
I'm taking straight magnesium for the restless legs along with an over the counter remedy for restless legs.  Does anyone have any suggestions to calm them?  Even my arms were doing it last night and that's a new one for me, quite a sight!
Anyways, as usual, I'd love to hear your suggestions/comments, it's 10.30am now here in the UK.

Update....I've coated my legs in tiger balm and am wearing surgical stockings (as we call them in the UK) good job my hubby loves me! It's 11pm in the UK so let's see if we can get more than 3 hours sleep tonight, thanks for all your support as ever.  And in case you were wondering why I'm posting continuously, I could find hardly anything on this problem when I googled it in the UK. I know it's a problem for thousands of people, so if reading my posts, and the help you guys have given me helps just one, then it's been worth it. X

Hey.....I didn't read all of the posts that you've rec'd however, I just wanted to lend my support to you!  YOU ARE RIGHT IN THE THICK!!!!  (That's what I like to call it)....This is it....this is where you have to push yourself.  A couple of tips that I used to help with restless leg syndrome.
1. Hylands RLS tablets (sublingually under the tounge) - to me they were ahhh, ok.
2.  A pair of diabetic socks!!!  These helped me tremendously.  You can get them at any pharmacy store (reg store to)....tight long socks..mine went to my thighs.  They were as ugly as ****, but who cares!!!  They definatly worked for me especially at night!
3. I tried propping up my legs when I went to bed -  a pillow under the knees kind of thing.

NONE of these suggestions are going to fully take away the RLS, but they will help to lessen it.
Keep pushing yourself, your almost to the other end!  You got this!!!!  When in doubt, I used anthem type music to pump up my resolve.  Sounds stupid, I know, but it worked for me!

Thank you so much guys, again, quinine is in my fave drink a G&T, although I probably should leave the Gin out at this point and concentrate on just the benefits of quinine.  Tiger balm I have too, so I will give that a go. I've been able to function somewhat normally this evening, I'm dreading tonight, but I'm hopeful quinine and tiger balm will be my saviour. X

make sure the restless legs medicine you have contains quinine.  there are 2 kinds- one with it and one without.

tonic water with quinine does the same thing as the med.  it doesn't taste very good to me, but many people like it.

i get rls so bad i -
drink tonic water (sip on it all night)
pickle juice  (could probably drink shot of vinegar)
epsom salt bath
rub legs with tiger balm
wrap tight with ace bandages
have heating pad for each leg
take otc sleep aid

this is the only chance at getting sleep

I learned patience from my detox, it has come in handy many times in my aftercare. Even what seems horrible and bad, eventually becomes a strength and brings peace. I also learned I am way stronger than I thought. I am still amazed at going through what I did. Keep on doing the right thing and it will eventually feel good. You are doing great, keep it up.

I know how you feel about being tired Owl. I feel great when I wake up but then I crash a couple of time during the day and it's hard to do anything like that. It's supposed to rain for a couple of days here so my outdoor plans will be non existent, I'm worried about that, but I'm going to try to go out places, energy permitting.

Thanks Purr, I seem to feel worse in the mornings, I feel not too bad now - it's 2.30pm here.  I've done everything I can to try and ride this out, but I'm not the most patient of people!  I ha e something similar to that so I'll give it a go this evening.

The 3rd day is usually the worst day...then things start to slowly improve.  For the restless legs I've heard some people use Ben-Gay...or some kind of athletic heat rub and then wrap the legs in towels....other say using a heating pad around the legs also helps.  It is so funny that some things work for one person and not for another...all you can do is try different things.  I do agree that it is better to try to stay busy....keep your mind off of it as much as you can :-)

Hey BlueJay, thanks so much for that, I'm feeling better now than I did this morning, forced myself to do a load of housework.  I'm so tired though :(
So glad to hear you're on the road to normality, I haven't ventured outside for days, so I may do a bit of gardening this afternoon.  Thanks again and please let me know how you find Day 4!

Owl: I'm at three days without pills and I just want to let you know it Does get better! I had a low point yesterday, couldn't stop crying, I just wanted to feel normal again. I made myself eat dinner then went on a walk with my husband and kids and I felt so much better. I woke up this morning feeling pretty darn good, hoping it stays all day. Definitely drink lots of water, go outside for a bit and take your vitamins. We'll get through this.

Thanks spider, I feel like I've died and been dug up.  Can I expect this to last days? I'm hoping you say hours but I know that's not going to happen.  I'm finding my coordination and energy levels are so low, and sods law today is the day I have to get moving.  I've taken the imodium today too, 12mg, but I feel very nautious.  Sorry for rambling.

Hey there, well sounds like you're in the thick of it.  It also sounds like you're armed and ready for battle! Awesome job so far.  While I think of it, I remember someone saying they put heating pad on legs and wrap towels or blankets around them tightly.....that would make me nuts but I'm claustrophobic ....can't hurt to try.  For me the rls...oh jeez. I just had to keep moving ...ya I know, ....yes I got very little sleep......nightmares and sweats...all normal.......water water water is your best friend.....drink, hydrate.
Hugs prayers
