Congratulations on surviving 3 days. Another way to look at the wd symptoms...why relapse if it is going to make you start all over again. I never, ever want to go through that misery again. Once was enough for me!!!
Hello there! You are doing a wonderful job of keeping yourself in perspective! One thing though, people are not especially vulnerable to relapse when they are in a nasty detox. It is very clear that the pills caused it.
The real danger comes when you start feeling lots better. A little voice in your head will whisper, "See, you are in control now. Just one pill can't hurt. You really deserve it." Or something equivalent, maybe only a vague yearning. This is called by some people the mental battle, and you need to be prepared for it! It is best to have other people help you-called "aftercare."
Aftercare for some is AA/NA, for others counseling, or their paster. I talk to my wife who has seen me through years of this. I do not attend AA anymore, but the spiritual program in 12 steps changes lives. I personally use the principles of Rational Recovery.
Any way you do it, staying clean requires effort every day. I think about how precious my sobriety is and how I am going to work on my character defects each day (From AA principles) The long time clean people here on the Forum use many different powerful and effective strategies and I borrow freely from them.
You are doing so well!!
Great job! That is very encouraging to hear. I was doing well, had been off OxyCotin for about 2 months and was tapering on Percocet and then relapsed with OxyCotin 2-3 weeks ago. Going to start all over and you give me hope!
Hey, congratulations on day 3 !!!
Glad your feeling ok, that must be really comforting to you : )
Yes, Oxy's are such a strong drug to detox, but your proving that we all handle withdrawals differently and sometimes, the lucky ones have an easier time.
Great job : )
