Day 4 of my own personal hell!

Okay I will make this as short as possible. I'm in day 4 of WD's and I expected the restlessness (I'm taking Xanax to help me sleep per my doc) also dealing with being sick to my stomach. Now I haven't really had much of an appetite but I've eaten as much as I can stand at once!  What I did not expect is the is the numbness in my fingers, and the fact that I feel like I can not catch my breath at all! I am taking some kava kava and valerian root also. Help?

had a chuckle at 'i didn't feel the need to kill anyone'.  lmao

oh, i know the feeling well.  congrats.  you sound like you are over the hump and it only gets better from here on out.  the physical withdrawals that is, then the mental part kicks in.  withdrawal is always 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental.  thanks to gnarly for that.

there is an amino acid protocol.  if you can get to gnc get the stuff on there as it is what helps heal your brain and gets it back to normal faster.

here is the link

I almost forgot...now is the time to make use of Vitamin B-12.  Injections are best, sublingual next and then pill form.  If you go with pill form double up the first few days.  Make sure to take first thing in the morning otherwise once it builds in your body you will definitely have a hard time sleeping.  The B-12 will help you a ton in the energy department :-)

YAY!  I'm so happy that you are doing better.  You will still have waves...a day here or there where you don't feel up to par...but it is going to just get better and better now.  Now is the time for you to start checking into what you want to do for aftercare.  The MH Family is wonderful..but we all need more than that.  Church, NA Meetings....you can also Google for some support groups online.  There are several that members in this forum use.

I'm doing okay...now that all my "peeps" have checked in I'm gonna take the hubby and go spend the rest of the day day at my in-laws camper down on the water.  Just enjoy the breeze, lots of nice people there, Saturday night potluck, maybe some fishing off the dock....I need a couple of "relax" days!

Take care of yourself and congratulations.  You should be so proud of yourself...but don't get cocky okay?  That is a huge thing we all have to watch out for.  Just wait...Gnarly is gonna get his hands on you and make sure you get some aftercare :-)

Hope the rest of your weekend just gets better and better

Hugz!

Today is quite a bit better! I don't feel the need to kill everyone around me! I even went for a drive this morning to listen to some tunes and I didn't yell at anyone! Pretty much just tired today. I'm okay with that! How's all my peoples?

If you look under "my medhelp" tab you will find your profile, message center, etc.  I've just sent you a friend add...that way I can leave little messages of encouragement, etc and you can also send PM's if you want to talk more privately.

Anyone that you connect with you should request as a friend...very few will refuse you....this is a We thing not a Me thing.  The more support the better.  There were days where I thought I was going to give up and I would get into my profile and find a little note from someone and it helped me hang on!

We ALL understand.  Do you have some immodium?  That will help a whole bunch with the bathroom issue.  Take as many hot baths as you can tolerate....purchase a big bag of epsom salts and use it.  It will help draw out the toxins faster.

Depending on an individuals system the worst day of detox can be anywhere from Day 3 to Day 7.  You are so, so close to relief...you CAN do this...so proud of you!

Hey again, the ups and downs are a killa !!!
I only got over anxiety around the 7-8 month mark...
There is a product called "Rescue Remedy", its an oral flower spray, used to treat anxiety, sadness and stress. It is a decoction of flowers and it was my savour in early recovery.
Well done for even attempting work this early, most people cant do that !!!
Are you working this weekend ?  : )

Holy mother of God! I am not sure how much more I can take! I'm still standing strong though! I can't even imagine doing this to myself EVER AGAIN! I don't want to sound gross but the bathroom visits have gone into over drive! I slept pretty well last night and woke up feeling pretty darn good, but once I got to work my anxiety went into a tail spin! I had to just remove myself from the situation and have a good old cry! Ugh. I hope day 6 is a little better but I'm not really thinking that it will be!

Also thank you Purrfectlycrazy for checking in on me today! It's nice to know there is someone out there! Thanks again!

Hey there, a big congratulations on day 4!!!
Yeah, music is a great soother through detox and a run is even better : )
Alot of people we know, including friends and family, dont fully understand the nature of addiction, so coming to sights like MH will help you a great deal : )
Dont stress too much about having more than one thread, this tends to happen alot when people are in early recovery.
If you cant get to meetings or arnt ready yet, church support is also great.
I myself dont attend meetings, but that works for me.
Others cant get by without a couple meetings a week.
Most people say this crucial for their recovery to work.
Just drink plenty of good old water to flush the toxins out faster.
Just be careful mixing the Xanax with Valerian Root. Although Valerian Root is a natural remedy, it can still be addictive if taken too long and mixed with Xanax, they have the same similarities in relaxing the body : )
I also use google alot before mixing any meds, you'd be surprised at what can cause more harm than good.
I use Valerian Root now and again but only 2 or 3 nights in a row if im feeling anxt, then stop for a while.
Hang in there, your doing a great job.
Stay safe and stay strong.
Well done : )

Chat away...we all love to do the same...for the same reason.  If it is quiet and not many responding reading the posts of others going through the same thing helps immensely!  At least it helped me...it passes the time, you don't feel so alone and maybe, just maybe, you will find yourself passing on your own suggestions of what worked for you and what didn't.  Helping others also keeps your eye focused on the prize!!!

I have to go for the night....go take that walk and listen to that music.  Do whatever it takes to calm your mind down.  It doesn't have to be any of my suggestions...some people find reading to help...maybe doing a favorite hobby...but just keep busy.  Much better than lying around doing nothing but feeling miserable.

I'll check in with you tomorrow...feel free to PM me if you want to chat!

Thank you! I was thinking about going for a run later, maybe just a walk out in the country. Music has been my safe zone, as long as I have my head phones on I'm good! Also talking to you folks really helps! I've talked to my mom and my friends about it at length but none of them have ever dealt with this! I do have a group that is not part of N/A but along the same lines!  I know since my family has never been through this they are getting burnt out on me talking about it.  I would too if it were them and not me. I'm just happy I have others that want to talk! ❤️

Valerian is supposed to help a person relax and rest.  I understand about not knowing where your wallet is...I had one day during my CT where I couldn't figure out where the heck my glasses were (on top of my head lol).

Don't apologize hun...a lot of people dual post...it is just easier to keep up with what is going on with your WD if you stick to one post.

Some other relaxing suggestions:  sleeptime tea or chamomile tea.  If you can bear to get out of the house maybe go to your local GNC and see what they have.  I know it is hard to move but I swear it helps to get out of the house.  If you can get out for a drive, a walk, some fresh air...do something to help your body to wind down.  Sex also works I've been told...unfortunately because my hubby is so sick I was never able to test that theory :-D

Now for the mind....believe it or not...I used comedy to help with my anxiety .... my favorite comedian is Bill Engvall so I watched everything he's ever come out with...I even laughed...felt like H*ll but I laughed.

Like I said, others will chime in during the night with some great ideas and suggestions for you okay?

Sorry about that. I've never been on here before other than the other night. I believe that I have only posted once other than this but I could be wrong!  Hell I don't even know where my wallet is right now! I will try out what you have suggested and see if it helps! I don't know what valarin does but the kava extrac is really helping with my stomach! I will warn everyone that is reading this kava extract tastes like pure death!

Sorry, I think you actually have 3.  It really will help you and us if you stick to one until the WD symptoms are gone.  After that you can start a new thread if you have other stuff to get off your chest :-)

You are in my prayers....just hang in there...you are experiencing what all of us do/did.

The Valerian is a great idea, I've never used Kava Kava.  Be careful of the Xanax...it is very addicting and I doubt you want to go down that road.

For sleep you can try Melatonin 10 mg, Advil PM and/or Tylenol PM.  A good hot soak in the epsom salts before bedtime.  Try to make sure your room is cool and dark.

There will be other comments as the night goes on...several in here are very savvy on the types of foods to eat while going CT.  Bananas is great...don't force yourself to eat a ton.  Drink Boost if your tummy is not happy with heavier food.  Lifewater with electrolytes is another good one.

The anxiety will get better...it really will!!

Could you do us a huge favor?  Please keep your posts to one thread...you have about 5 of them going right now.  If your posts are all in one place we can keep track of how you are doing, the questions you have asked, the responses you've gotten, etc.

In fact, I think I responded to two of your threads last night.

It will be easier for you and for those who want to help you :-)

Thanks!!!
