Day 4 off vicodin- want to hear how it will get better.

Day 4 off vicodin- want to hear how it will get better.

Can someone please tell me that it gets better...the sadness, the hopelessness, the fatigue, the urge to escape by taking just one little pill= i have 2 wonderful kids 1yr old and 2yr old, a great career, a wonderful husband, and all I can think about is that damn vicodin- will I ever stop obsessing/wishing it was ok to take pills to 'feel better', work faster, be nicer, easier going?...something that just puts me in a happy little bubble...aaaarrrrrggghhhhh!

It does get better..it just takes time. Have you thought of aftercare at all? What's your plan to stay clean? Withdrawals is just the beginning of this fight. Get yourself prepared now!

Pills make everything easier to handle...the lazy husband, the screaming kids, the messy house, the zero balance in the bank.....or at least that's all I can think about right now.

Aftercare is getting help at staying clean for the long haul. I go to AA/NA meetings. Counseling with an addiction therapist and group therapy are good choices as well. The addiction isn't over when the withdrawals are through. It's with us for life. You need to learn how to deal with life without the drugs.

I know you are right in what your saying...It just that I cant remember a time  when I did deal with life without drugs- Its actually been a couple of years- which is scarey....and so remembering the good times I had without drugs feels hard right now...and addiction therapist sounds good..maybe i will do some research-

Hi Missy I am in the process of ending an addiction with opiates, so I UNDESTAND how much this *****!!! The thing that helps me is stopping with the "I can't do this task until I take a pill, or I can't deal with my problems without a pill", the truth is that WE CAN! We just have to push ourselves, and you will be amazed at just how great life is without taking that pill...remember you are stronger than you think, and as you start to see all the things you CAN do without the drugs it will help build up your confidence!  I'm working on this myself!  I know how easy it is to pop a pill every time you feel overwhelmed, sad, or "in pain", but let out the tears, push through your daily task and FIGHT IT OUT!! Don't lose yourself in the taunting taughts that we all have to fight daily!!

PS- Suboxone has helped me deal with those cravings, but It can lead to another addiction if u are not using it to truely stop, but I would look into seeing a doctor as well as a psychologist- I am currently doing so as well

GOOD LUCK!! Keep me posted, I'm batteling it too right beside ya

So, you're in w/d's, and everything ***** X 100,000, but you have to concentrate on the time elapsed since you stopped.

All I can say (I'm tapering, tired, and crabby) is: find some things that will help you sleep. You can look around the site and get that info.

Keep goin'

You are over the hard part now. This is when most relapse BUT DON'T. It will get better every day a little bit. I've been there, more than once. Do it for yourself so you can finally live! Rest as much as you can and take tylenol or ibupropen for the discomfort. A miled anti-depressant might help. I get some for $4. Take Tylenol PM at night.

Things will definitly get better! I understand what you are saying so much. One of the first times I tried to stop I was aweek clean moving into my dads new house and looking around thinking, "Oh that will be a great place to do a line of oxycontin" or "ohh that glass table looking out on the ocean will be perfect" And then I was like what the hell, its been a week and I am still thinking about this??? I thought I was hopeless. This time around, i've thought much differently, and today is 2 weeks clean. You've GOT to stay positive and don't dwell on the negatives because your head will trick you into thinking you need that pill to do everything, when really you don't!! It just takes some time, strength, and patience, but you can do it! Have you looked at the amino acid protocol? That has helped me, along with exercising and forcing myself to get out and do things, even when I thought I would pass out if I did anything more lol. You can do this!!!
