Hi I had a choice between neurontin and the requip, I chose neurontin, and it doesnt seem strong but my doc said I could take another if it didnt help maybe call your doc nd see.  It works for me just messes with my emotions not as bad lately.  Even after 6 weeks I still have RLS I guess I will have to live with it I also am a diabetic so the peripereal neuropathiy is the same as RLS.  Hope this helps

Please keep hangin' in there.  It's great that you've made it 5 long days already.  I also had no sleep, for quite a while actually, which made everything so much harder to deal with.  I tried every o-t-c sleep aid on the market, including some supplements and herbal remedies only to find that they didn't work and made things worse for me at the time.  They seemed to have the opposite effect and made me jittery.  I also never had rls prior to having detoxed, and it really surprised me.  While I can't say that anything worked "great" for me personally, what DID help, was wrapping a heating pad around my legs.  The worst feelings for me started at the knees and was mainly in my calves and feet.  Baths helped while I was in them, but the relief was gone shortly after.  I wound up moving my legs or tapping my feet alot while I was laying down, to short of shake the feeling, and I was up anyway.  It WILL pass.  It WILL.  Please hang in there, I know it's not pleasant, to put it mildly, but it will all dissipate and you'll be so happy you got through it!

I"ve had RLS for several years now, it would come and go, doctor put me on some medicine but got hooked and had to quit...but that was before this new drug Requip, I don't know nothin about that..Now that I'm going though w/d it has come back bad, the other night I found myself in the hallway running in place...I have found that if I wrap my legs and lay on couch with legs up on the back of couch has helped some nights.

Good for you for coming such a long way, hang in there, you have done great!!!!!

The RLS lasted about 10 days for me - remember that was a long habit for me - but they gradually got better and better, Not an issue anymore with me.

I do not want to take anything right now simply because we want to DE-tox...not RE-tox.  I am with you!

It is called Requip and I do not think its habit forming, but I can't say for sure, I would have to look it up. As for it being from w/d I think it still works. I am almost sure that someone else here has used it and it worked for them. I can check into it more if u like?!

Natural Calm with calcium helps as does eating lots of bananas. Melatonin for sleep, up to 10mg. Wrapping your legs in an ace bandage and a heating pad also helps. HOT baths with 1-2 cups Epsom salts helps too. Taking long walks helps.

Be careful with any prescription meds. I did use them during my WD but I think it set me back in my recovery. Any prescription med is going to be addictive. I know the not sleeping and RLS is horrible during wd but you don't want to have to go through it again to get off ambien or any other sleep med. This will pass with time so Be careful

Valerian root and melatonin work well.  You have to go to bed once you take it...if you are in a lit room, you will think it isn't working.
The detox is hard....we are day# 7 off methadone...my legs are hurting and usually I am not plaqued with that.  Hot baths with epsom salts will help and so will wrapping your legs in an ace bandage...just not too tight!
Best of luck, hang in there.
Peace
