Day 5 of Taper, I feel so Weak, my body feels so heavy

So I started my taper on Thursday, and I am proud to say I threw out a total of 6 that I had left over, that I didn't use.

But I have been feeling so weak, my legs feel so heavy is that normal..I haven't been sleeping well, the dr gave me sleeping pills but they don't help.  I feel the Restless legs starting...I'm sure that will get worse...

how can I feel less weak?

Hi people, I'm new to this kinda of chat room, but unfortunately not new to opiates, I was a heroin addict from 2005 until Nov 2010 when I was prescribed methadone. I started  on 30ml then went upto 90ml stupidly! I have been steadily reducing since and I'm now on 3ml I know it dosnt sound like much but is been a long road.to get this far. Reading all your stories has been more comforting and encouraging than talking to my drug worker anyday!. Im really apprehensive about what's to come, what is the best way to taper off and will I just feel the same as anyone on say 10ml or will the monkey on my back be easier to carry. Thanks yours truly Dean

thanks everyone for your responses..I did manage to get some exercise in yesterday, it was hard, but it did help for sure.

I appreciate all your support and suggestions, I have been trying to eat healthy also, and have been taking some vitamins but probably not enough.

Today is my last taper day, and I'm considering just making today my quit day instead of tomorrow, I don't know if I should just flush them or wait as long as possible?

Also I'm wondering are the WD's going to get even worse once I don't take any pills? yesterday I only took 4 I was taking 20-30 a day before I wanted to quit?

BTW I didn't stick to my taper, I actually took less on a few days (so proud of that).

Will it get worse before it gets better?

HI ....recovery is a slow process but with time and God you will heal there is no quick fix fir this but everything the above posters have said is true good nutrition is important I recommend
drinking whey protein shakes there full of amino acids vitamins as well as the protein all of witch the brain needs to heal....as addicts ''we want it and wa want it now'' but recovery dosent work that way take it day by day you will have good days great days and bad days as you move forward the good days out number the bad ones you can pick up the whey protein for 15 bucks at walmart the chocolate flavor is good all you do is mix it with milk drink 2 a day again this isent a quick fix but rather a building block to getting well congrats on your clean time
and good luck with your recovery........Gnarly

I'm not exactly sure why it sent twice. But anyway I have been exercising everyday I had to make a promise to myself that I would. It really keeps your mind off of things. The weakness will once stop when you get your strength and energy level up. I know it's a lil cold out but going on runs always clears up my mind.

i know exactly how you are feeling. I finally stopped taking Norcos of up to 25-30 a day. It was in my system for so long and heavy that when the withdrawal from them left my legs heavy and just no energy. I am on day 10 and can't believe the difference. I tired so many times but never got passed the part you are going through. i promise you that keeping the faith will really pull you through. Mind over matter is the hard one...You can do it..if you want it bad enough...Best of luck and warmest regards.

Hi! This is very normal, you have to try and get a lot of rest! Drink lots of fluids..gatorade is the best! Try not drinking any sort of caffeine its just going to make you feel more weak then you already are you just have to stick it out, you came this far already you can do it! The sleeping honestly wont get any better for awhile that's something you'll have to just be patient with. Good luck!! If you need any other information im on day 6 so I know what your going through.

Like Daretodream said, the weighted down feeling is very normal. The best thing you can do is to help that and to help your energy level is exercise. Exercise will speed up the whole withdrawal process. I know it can be hard to muster up the energy to exercise but you have to force yourself even if it's just a short walk around the block at first. You will soon find out how much it helps!

Also be sure to check into the amino acid protocol which can be found in the health pages. All of the vitamins and supplements really do help. Be sure you're eating healthy and pushing the good fluids such as juice, water and gatorade. Make sure you cut back on the caffeine.

Try and stay as busy as possible! Try your hardest to go through each day as you would any other day. The more active you are the faster you will get through the physical withdrawals. Do things to keep from staring at the clock. Staring at the clock seems to make time move in slow motion. Pick up a good book, rent some funny movies, do a jigsaw puzzle, anything to keep your mind occupied.

Just stay mentally strong and know that all of this pain will pass. Tell yourself every second of everyday that you will succeed. The pain we have to endure during withdrawals is so worth it to live a clean and sober life.

You're doing a great job. Keep up the good fight! I'm pulling for ya!

thank you for replying to my post, they don't seem to be much attention, it's nice to know someone is going through the same thing.  That's a big part of my motivation.

I went through this WD thing b4 and I don't remember feeling so weak.  I really want to exercise, but it's hard just putting one step in front of the other right now.

I heard about the RLS product available at walmart, so I'm going to get some of that, maybe that will help with the restless legs at night so I can sleep better.

Any other tips to help, would be appreciated!

thanks for Listening!
