Day 6 and feel blah!

Hi everyone, well it's an absolute miracle I made it this far. Thanks to ALL of you for your support!
I was depressed before the pills, during the pills and now after. I know I suffer from depression and have been on Prozac for a few years which I'm tapering down and getting off of. I know the blahs are all part of this process. I was so proud of myself for the first few days and to be perfectly honest, the WD I was so terrified of just didn't happen for me. I took a lot of OTC stuff which I know helped a great deal. But now I'm here with me. I spent so much money and time running from dr to dr, pharmacy to pharmacy. I think part of the addiction for me was the thrill of seeing who would give me my pills. 99% of the drs did. I had one dr ask me if I wanted 40,60 or 90 pills. You can imagine how excited I was. Seriously, like a kid in a candy store. I could win an Oscar with my performances.
Well anyway, just reaching out. I have gone to some NA meetings and I'm not sure it's for me but what I do know for certain is, I have to do things differently this time. Putting down the pills is only the first step.
Thanks again everyone!!!!

LOL!!!!
Yea, I'm getting off of them. Only only want natural aids in my body. Sounds strange coming from someone who would at times pop over 30 pills a day. I had some Tramadol from a dr that I took the first day because I was so scared to not be on anything and by day 2, I flushed them down the toilet. No more drugs!!!!!!!

No more Docs? Be very careful what you do then. Research  what you are on and make informed decisions. I sure am glad I never went on that Prozac stuff. Who knows what would have happened with all the pills I was on, I might have turned into a green blob and invaded NY city, LOL!

Thanks you guys. No more dr because I had to stop my insurance. Needed the extra cash to pay outside drs to get my pills. But will definitely take your suggestions.
For anyone out there still struggling and I know I'm on day 6, let me just say how freeing it feels to be able to wake up in the morning and not feel utter terror because I have no more pills.
Seriously, it's worth it all!!!

You should also look up "serotonin syndrome" .

Drugs, you gotta hate them. They can cause more problems than they claim to help.

You should check with your doc about the prozac first however. You'd want to make sure it's all cleared from your system  before taking any amino acids that increase serotonin. Others are ok though.

Prozac is known for causing sexual disfuntion problems too, which can last up to six months after stopping it. Known as Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction.

Ibuprofen used in combination with Prozac can cause significant intestinal bleeding after a period of use. So be careful with ibuprofen if you take it regularly for pain. It also causes nausea, anxiety, insomnia in 10-13% of users.

It should not be stopped abruptly in any case, so your docs advice should be heeded.

Prozac is a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) so you can't take either of those. It will cause a serotonin overload.

You could stop taking the prozac however, then take sam-e  or the 5HTP.  It would help with more amino acid imbalances  and save money too.

The L-Tyrosine you could also take if you still have trouble with energy and anxiety. If you go that route start at low doses of the L trosine, 200mg. Too much can cause anxiety problems.

Hi there!  Glad to see you at Day 6 - You're doing a great job!  The vitamins are a help, but watch the Sam-e since you're taking SSRI's. Or any mood enhancing OTC drug for that matter.  You should not combine the two.

What helps get you going more than anything is exercise!   I love working out, and it will get those endorphins up and running quicker than anything else.  Being out and about and interacting with others is also a great way to take your mind off of the pills.

Stick to what you've been doing - and post as often as you need to, it really helps!

Sending you Well Wishes....

Sandy

Thanks Luckytwice. I'm on prozac so that's why I haven't taken the L-Tyrosin(sp?) and 5htp. Do you know if I can? I feel tired, depressed and I want a pill badly!!!!
But I won't do it because if I pop any pills, my gf will leave me. I'm just having a hard morning. I'm in healthcare which requires me to be happy and healing others.

have you tried any of the amino acids? That will help with the blahs and depression. Why reach for pharmacuticals when you can fix yourself up with natural products?

Some that may help you are: 5HTP- which metabolizes and produces serotonin, which is the usual cause of depression and anxiety. DO NOT take if you are taking any  Tricylic anti depressants or SSRI.  The unsual dosage is 100mg 3 times a day, and you can increase up to 300 if needed.

Sam-e- is another which  aids in stress relief, depression, eases pain.
DO NOT take if you take 5htp.

Congrats on getting through the quitting part, and not getting the uglies, LoL!  Now work on getting you feeling better while your body starts producing it's own neurons and endorphins again!
