Day 6 clean...this is hatd

Hey there. Well I've made it to Day 6. It has been s rough weekend... cravings and fighting with the hubby. So glad I didn't hv any or I would hv used... just being honest. My husband doesn't get it and even told me that he would buy my a bottle full if I would just act normal... that was like a slap in the face!  He doesn't know that I slipped up on day 10 and now back to day 6 so yrs there has been some up and down... but it has been so much harder this time
I did not hv cravings at all last time. I have had them for the last 3 days!!! I hate this. I was feeling great from day 4 last time... going going going!!! But this time is harder. I feel like I'm being punished!!!
So I am putting one foot in front of the other... hoping today is a better day!!!
Hugs from Texas... Deb

Hi Deb ....congrats on 6 days!! I know it's hard and I want you to know it def gets better and better each day from here forward. The cravings this time around are probably a punishment like you said... ;) but seriously that's how I look at it sometimes for myself I am 24 days clean and all the Helllll I went through kickin this I attributed to being punished for ever getting into this. It's a pretty good deterrent to going back. Just stick with it and keep a positive attitude!

Hi Deb,

I have been trying to stay clean since last June.  I always go 7-10 days and relapse.  I know how hard it can be with the cravings.  I also know that the way you approach them is really important.  You know they are going to come and you are going to have to deal with them, so put a plan in place to deal with them.  For me, when I would get those thoughts a week or so in, I would dwell on them and think about it for too long, instead of just stopping myself and moving on with my day.

I have found exercise, reading and music really help my mind to not focus on the thoughts about using.  I can also tell you that after about 30 days the thoughts will be much less frequent.

Hang in there, you have not used today and that is a great thing!
