Day 6 cravings

I woke up with a bad headache and serious rib pain. Hurts when I breathe. Pain is a trigger for me. I know the headache is from low blood sugar, and not enough water. I ate some cereal to get my blood sugar back up, slammed some water, took 2 tylenol, and am about to have a cup if coffee. Good news is, I won't take a pill because I took the max amount of tylenol you can take at a time, the bad news is in 4 hours, I will be in town. Luckily I will be in therapy, but there are alot of people I know on pills. I hope the head doesn't hurt, the rib pain is from many getting bigger pushing organs up into my ribs and im guessing my lungs. I've bern looking forward to this day, and need it as my daughter goes to daycare one day a week, and I need my break! Anyways, thought I would post, just to maker myself accountable u guess.

I'm actually much better. Therapy was good. We talked about not losing hope, and doing things you enjoy. I go for borderline personality disorder TRAITS, but works good for aa or na as slit if people in there have addiction issues, comes with the territory, and avoiding mood/mind altering drugs is apart if the therapy, as well as what we talk about.

Be careful with the hot showers as they can do the same thing as a hot bath, plus make you dizzy enough to fall!!

But with that said...you can take a fairly warm bath and still be safe! Google what the safe water temp for pregnancy is and you'll be pleasantly surprised to know that while it's not sauna-hot it's still quite comfortable and I couldn't live without my warm baths, LOL.

But I totally understand...Toradol is a FANTASTIC drug, but I have a hiatal hernia so when I take it sometimes I'm doubled over with stomach pain - nevermind the pain that I was originally taking it to treat. But it sure is an amazing drug!!!

I also can't take aspirin because of my stomach problems, and it stinks because it used to work well for me, but I think it contributed to my kidney issues so i guess not being able to take it isn't such a bad thing, lol.

Yay for extra strength rapid release tylenol! I have to say, after I stopped taking pain meds regularly ( i was a pain management patient who never abused my meds but I got tired of the cycle so I quit the program and stopped the meds) I was pleasantly surprised at how well plain old tylenol started working for my pain..and I have some pretty severe pain issues as well.

I still have to take pain meds occasionally to this day (even while pregnant, unfortunately) but for everything but the most severe pain, tylenol has been working better than it has in years...which is fantastic.

good luck with therapy...remember not to push yourself too much because all those aches and pains can be exacerbated by all the pregnancy hormones and you don't want to be in too much pain <3.

Lol, Ash! I kno what you mean. And actually, I've been on torodal for 6 mos, luckily i may have only took one since being pregnant, if that, and that was b4 I knew. I have ulcers, do I had to take it sparsely. The hard thing about being pregnant, all I can take is tylenol and narcotics, so extra strength rapid release is my friend. Gotta get more. These were left over from my first pregnancy when I had frequent migraines. Eben if I want pregnant, same goes for ulcers. No aspirin, ibuprofen, our advil. I'm going to be late, sd its slow going, but late is better then nothing! Can't wait to come home and take a soothing hot shower. Sure miss my hot baths!

Aspirin and toradol should both be avoided during pregnancy especially during the first trimester unless the doctor recommends them with risks outweighing the benefits.

Congratlations on day 6, so am I. Are you allergic to aspirin? My Dr. prescribed Toradol (not Tramadol) generic name ketrolac. It's not opioid and is terrific for pain. Do you have any Dr. that could prescribe you this?. It's perfectly safe, the pain will go and you won't mess up your recovery, best of luck and God bless you...

So exciting when you start to show!!!

I'm right around 19wks and showing too...and even though this is my 3rd baby it's just as exciting.

Good/bad news is...narcotics won't help the rib pain, so you can't convince yourself to take them to make the pain better - it just won't work because it's all about position and pressure.

So unfortunately the only thing you can do is some stretches to try to get everything to shift BUT the good news is you have no excuse to give into the trigger - they just wouldn't work for this type of pain.

Get on your hands and knees and rock gently back and forth with your back arched down..this helps bring the belly weight down and forward off of your vital organs. also I highly recommend investing in a yoga/birthing ball, if you sit on this (brace yourself on something that won't move so you don't fall) sit with your legs spread, and gently bounce, it can help move everything down and ease the pressure as well.

I will try that, bring pregnant there is stuff I just can't stomache, and liquids is worse then food. I can drink one cup of coffee, water, and sleepy time tea. Instead of sitting here, I threw Erika in the tub, and put on some makeup. Figured that if I look good, I might feel good. Actually helped. I'm also about to make a spinach, meat, cheese, cucumber, alfalfa sprout sandwich. I found that greens really help to give a boost of energy.  im not giving up, but I hope that even in my weak moments, that the things I try will help another in the same situation.
On another note, I'm starting to show! Talk about motivation, a lil baby bump is so encouraging. I resigned myself to the fact that in my detox I would lose the baby. Maybe to prepare just in case, but this just makes it do worth it. I'm finally allowing myself to be excited, and even went through belly and baby pictures with Erika to show her what how her baby brother or sister is growing.

Hang in there. I know you are in pain and it's a trigger for you but hopefully OTC meds can help. Also, water isn't enough to help with dehydration. You need electrolytes. Get a bunch of gatorade. I know you will feel better.
When I was detoxing I drank soooo much and I know it helped.
Your doing great!

I also have little energy today, and that is a trigger as well. May be stemming from my coming trip to town, as this is the first time levying the house, except an hour yesterday, which exhausted me. I alway took a pill then when it was kicked in, would get my daughter and myself ready.

I started taking these for pain, so piston us my biggest trigger. Last year when winter hit was when I was in unbearable pain. I have alot of hope this year, but still terrified. If a headache creates craving, what would the pain of bone on bone in my hips do? Sorry just worried, and never want to go back.
