Day 8 Question

by TitansFan18, Aug 19, 2009 07:59AM
I am on day 8 since my last use of hydrocodone but I am very worried. I cannot seem to preform sexually. Is this something people hear very often. It seems like I am so sensative when it comes to this area. I am very embarassed about bringing this up but I must know if it is normal or if I have a problem. As far as everything else I really am starting to feel like myself again day after day. I even turned down an offer to buy some hydrocodons yesterday. I just didnt want them. Thanks for all the support everyone.

It's very very common. You've numbed your body for a long time..and the sensitivity is just coming back. It will get better with time. No worries.

Whoooo....... Thanks for the assurance.

No problem. By the way, there are desensitizing things you can use in the meantime.

Numbing gels/sprays, etc. You can get them at adult bookstores or online.

Yes, and there are condoms made with the spray/gel already integrated. I think I even saw a Durex Gel sold at WalMart for this purpose. It's a common problem in early recovery.

When we're on our DOC everything just gets "numb" ....(I think our brain just gets re-wired) So, I think that when we have "gotten clean" our bodies kinda go into a sort of "shock overdrive" .   I know that when I was using I had NO LIBIDO,,,, Since I've been OFF my DOC (x's 19days) it's coming back.... And my poor husband is pretty happy about that!!

Yeah I guess the numbing of my body and it sense of feeling for so long plays a huge role in this. My wife knows of my problem and that I am taking care of it. She is with me every step of the way. She just kinda of laughs at me, but not in a mean way.

I'm glad your wife is supportive... I KNOW I wouldn't be 19 days CLEAN w/out the help of my husband....Just the fact that he KNOWS took a great burden off of my addictive shoulders...

It's funny how we THINK we're normal when we're using but how ABNORMAL we become!
Hang in there and keep posting...
