Day 9 withdrawal/Taper from Norcos

by SuzzQ, Nov 10, 2009 05:16PM
I am on day 9 now.. I was taking 6-8 or more norcos a day, I stabilized it to 6 a day previously.  Last week I came here and had so much support, that I cut down last week to 4 a day.. then went this weekend to 3 a day, yesterday 2 1/2.  Now I am trying on 2 a day.  I guess I will take 2 a day for a few days and see how I feel, if I feel good enough, I will go down to one... then none.. My counselor told me that after I am completly done with the tapering.. off them.. I will still be very sick for about 4 days.... does anyone know about the 4 days after quitting????????

Hi SuzzQ...

First off, congrats on deciding to quit and working hard at it...

I would disagree with your counselor...everyone goes through different WDs..i myself was at about the same dose as you and when I quit, C/T (no tapering), i went through some WDs, they weren't pleasant, but I wouldn't say I was very sick...

The thing is, although we stop taking them, it takes about 5 days for opiates to leave one's body...so, thats why a lot of folks on here say, physical WD last 3-5 days...

Just make sure you have a plan for aftercare...if you have a counselor, keep him/her...it helps ya stay clean.. =)

Hang in there and good luck...you will be fine...if you want it bad enough, you'll make it through...
