Day one!!

Hi everyone,

It is not even one full day for me coming off of Tramadol. I took about 8 a day:( Some of you may remember as I was on this site years ago and have been battling this ever since!

Anyway, It hasn't even been a full day and my chills/sneezing, cold symptoms are extremely annoying already. Is there anything we can take to taper them? My fatigue is still ok but I know that is coming:( I can also feel the tinlgy arm sensations starting to occur. UGH! I was scared to post again but I really your guys help to stay strong and get through this. Thankfully I have some ambien to help me fall asleep!!

Hi,

Day 3 wasn't horrible! It's kind of getting worse into the evening but I'm maintaining. I am still surprised how much better this cold turkey is from my one almost two years ago, not sure why? I just have the gross fatigue, small sweats and chills, and feeling icky! What can help with the gross anxiety feeling I get in my chest? I'm trying to drink and eat but it's hard, no appetite. I would love some more words of encouragement!!

Ok so it's half way through day 2 and I'm surprised how good I feel! Last time I came off them almost 2 years ago I felt like I was going to die, it hurt so bad!! I've had some minor sweats/cold, sneezing and a little fatigue! That's it! Am I being lucky or will it just get better? My last cold turkey quits were horrid day 1-3....please help me through this!

stay hydrated. If you can't eat, drink Ensure a few times per day. be careful with the Ambien, that too is highly addictive. When I was going through withdraw I went to the doctor and got an RX for xanax, the lowest mg possible, .25 mg, and then I would chop that pill in quarters. Just one quarter would help me though the days where the anxiety got real bad. When that anxiety gets bad, hang on, it won't last forever, push through it.
We are all behind you, you have friends here.
hugs,
Lily

Hi Kylie

Day one..... it seems like forever and yet just a short time ago for me... Day one is scary..... like I was waiting and wondering just how bad it would be....I read a lot online and it scared me more ....I am glad I didn't have as bad a time as some.... I had some aches...I sweat a lot at night....I suffered RLS actually in arms and legs....I was very tired.... but I had no gastrointestinal signs and no "brain zaps" ......I did not sleep more than a couple of interrupted hours each night for days and days and I still can't sleep well and though RLS is loads better it isn't gone..... that said I can't tell you how much better I feel now.... taking Tramadol changed me... and I want to get back to who I was.....I don't think we realize when we are taking it how much it changes us....I wonder if other people here feel like that? Sorry....I seem to rambling on every post tonight

Man I had a whole routine.  I did my Greens, Vitamins, protein shakes for meals since I couldn't keep mush down, Alka Seltzer night time cold...I know that is not a great option but it helped me sleep, Epsom salt bath all day and then right before bed, I had a tens machine for my back to help with pain or muscle spasm, Tylenol controls body temp but really will not help with pain, heat packs for my arms and legs (I have heard people do ice but I would rather burn then freeze...lol) and that really helped.  Walking no matter how I felt and laying in the sun.  Most days I dragged my comforter out into my yard and just died on that while in the sun...thank God for fences :)  You got this :)

The dreaded start :-(
I know I ate and still eat bananas like no tomorrow,  they work wonder on the restless arms and legs.
Like Jerry said, hot showers or baths work wonders. One thing I started doing now (I know it sounds crazy but it works) get you some Irish Spring soap and shave slivers on your mattress before you put the fitted sheet on. Trust me, there is something so soothing in the soap I can't explain.

Welcome, the jump will not be easy but make sure that you stay hydrated and eat whatever you want but caffeine is not a good substance right now so try and stay away , get yourself to good multi vitamins and I would save that ambien for that night when you really need it.... are you able to take some down time?? hit the shower or tub for those AHHHH moments it really makes a difference I wish you the best in the new you..
