Debating detox

I have posted a few times today but here are my final thoughts.....i want to get this detox over with being back on here and having the support makes me want to get it done, but I'm so scared! What can I do to prepare myself for the w/d's, and I have been taking between 150-200mgs of hydro or oxocodone the past 4 years, i also gained 70 lbs from it......the bad w/d's should last about 3-5 days? right? Please share, this is what I'm most concerned about . after i get through the physical bad w/d's i can make it, especially with the help and talking in this forum, and stories u can share or experiences would really help. i hade made an appointment for monday to start Suboxone, but after much research I have concluded that I would be exchanging one drug for another and just eventually have to w/d from that too....i've heard it can be worse...please help!!!!!!!

Please, please stick to one post. It IS impossible to follow you or to help anyone else.

You can ask multiple questions in the same post, instead of 5 separate ones.

I cannot tell you it will take 3-5 days.  I can tell you it will be tough.  You have a lot stacked against you but remember you are surrounded by support here and you are not going to go through anything that we didn't and we are better for it.

If it was easy there wouldn't be more people to help than there were people trying to help.  Don't think you have to relapse.  You will have to deal with the physical pain and when that is over you will have to deal with the emotional w/ds.  Stay as busy as possible, journal a lot, and smile when you don't want to.  Say good morning to people when you don't want to.  It is not necessary to have a long and painful withdrawal.  It is also not a requirement to relapse.  It does happen however and if you don't want to do it start making your plan now.  Use what is given to you on here, start journaling now, and prepare for the storm which is just ahead.

Don't forget the home remedies, hot showers or baths,  and make sure you eat something.....good luck.

hey, IBKleen has helped countless addicts on this site get and stay clean!!!!!!!
She is trying to be helpful and show her that she will get better information and posts if she sticks to one post.  I know that most of us are in withdrawal but please don't take offense to something that is not meant that way

Don't be too discouraged with IBKleen.  She has been doing this for a while and has helped a lot of people.  Everyone gets overwhelmed sometimes especially the ones who care alot.  If you stick around long enough it will likely happen to you as well.  Leave the vets alone they are vets for a reason.

exchanging sub for oxy is exchanging a drug of life for a drug of death

exchanging sub for oxy effects an immediate shift from active addiction to mere dependence

sub is not a short term solution for addiction.  it's long term safe place from which you can work on, and get firmly rooted in, recovery

i know some good people who started solid recovery with sub

We don't appreciate negativity.  No one needs to hold your hand but as I said in my post people will give you encouraging words.  I urge you not to lash out and bite the hand that feeds you if you want to keep recieving the best meals.

Best of luck to you Gatsby-right now is a pretty difficult time and no one means any harm on hear-alot can be taken out of context due to not being able to "hear what is said exactly. So please consider all options and make the choice that is right for you.We will all be here to offer support and help.

If you ready to quit the worst part of w/d should only last for 3-5 days. You can get some relief from w/d by using the Thomas Recipe or the Amino Acid Protocol. It helps some but it is not a magic bullet. If you go the Suboxone route after you are done you will still have to go through w/d as CATUF pointed out it is used for people who need long aftercare to bring you from addiction to dependence. But again you will still have to detox from Suboxone. If you do C/T and get into aftercare it may work out better for you but only you know you. Good luck with your journey to sobriety and I will pray for you. God Bless---Rick

ok yes your wd will probably be the worst days 3-5, but everyone is different and detox affects everyone differently. Definately take a look at the Thomas Recipe on the health pages and take from there what you can. Drink as much fluids as you can and try to keep yourself busy during this time. Even a quick walk up and down the street will help. Lots of hot baths or showers and most importantly time. You will do fine. Some times the anticipation is worse then the actual event. You can do this girl!!!!

Gatsyby girl. You will make it. Positive thoughts equals positive results. I had a 15 norco , sometimes 20 7.5's. During day . I quit weened for 5 days, then cold turkey. Lasted 4 to 5 days. Then I vomited for 2 and runs for a week. But with Thomas recipe I did it. Mentally it's hard. But music, you will love, exercise, hot soaks or a jacuzzi. The first 5 days you will want to crawl under a rock. But know you are doing a GOOD thing. And it to shall pass. Pray. Cry, laugh. You will feel emotions. Train your brain to accept life for what it is. One step at a time.
