I don't blame you... for some of us our desire to get clean outweighs the desire to be comfortable. I used Sub also, but only took it for 10 days and at half of what my doc wanted me to take.
Are you coming off of 10mgs cold turkey/?
I called a number Sub Drs. and each one said it was allright to be on Benzodiazepines. Two even said they would also prescribe benzos to help with WDs. But I have been on Benzos for ten years for GAD and Panic attacks, I take 7.5 milligrams of Diazepam each night, I dont get high from them and never have to increase my dose. Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night and having your heart racing with a panic attack. The Diazepam(Valium) has helped me immensely. I was originally on 1.5 milligrams of Alprazolam for 8 years and then just switched one day to Diazepam at a lower dose because of its longer half life and active metabolites. I plan on maybe going down to 5 milligrams of Diazepam and just hold at that dose, No plan to come off of it, as it is a preventive med for me. Opiates, Im just learning about all the info on them, Benzos, I know an incredible amount about. I have tried every other SSRI with no results. Jay Dean
chris,
take a little less every month and you will eventually be clean.
I was addicted to opiates and then started to self medicate with subutex and I'm also prescribed clonzapam....I was on the sub. off and on for 3 months, but the most I took in one day was around 5mgs...I had eventually tappered down to .5 mg's all on my own.. My w/d's lasted about 2 weeks getting better each day, but some days would feel like day one again....I don't recomend you stop taking benzo's, because you can have a sezier and die especially if you're on a high dose. Can you get clonidine to help with the w/ds?
Okay. This post gives a little more information. Why are you flushing the Subutex down the toilet? This is the one drug that he has prescribed to help you with your addiction. It is the least addictive med that is used to detox someone from opiates, I've heard much better than Methadone. And you should not be taking Diazepam and Subutex together. I think your doctor is refusing to lower your Subutex dose because the dose has to be lowered very very slowly, and most people need to be on it for a long time. Tell us how long you were on Dihydrocodiene, then how long was it in between your last Dihydrocodiene and your first Subutex dose, and how long you have been on Subutex.
