Detox and recovery

After reading lots of posts and people trying to get energy and stay clean or get clean...I was remembering the things that helped me the most........i know for many it is aftercare, the supplements, psoting on the forum, the support of a loved one,...I think the thing that helped the most was exercise and this forum...posting everyday and i dont think i have missed more than a day posting in 7-8 months..it is amazing how keeping all of this fresh in your mind serves as a daily reminder of what NOT to do...what helped everyone else get celan?  or stay clean?

I have to agree. I always suggest to new people to exercise becasue someone told me they did that on their third day and I was just in awe. So I started about 2 weeks after I quit and it really helped. Plus I doubled my vitamins the first month.(Thank you GTMI) I also took Lexapro which helped my moods. Like you, worried, I post often. Maybe in May not so much becasue of the wedding but that really helps. I have friends here who help me through the rough times so I encourage people to make friends and share their feelings good or bad.

Good post!

worried ,
You are so right .Exercise was a big thing for me too ,I hated to workout before .I got clean and the first few week ere hard but it really help sooooooo much long with eating healthy and supplements .The forum is helpful too .So is my counseling sessions. I think that has been the biggest change for me it was the difference between relapsing and not .

Vitamins? did someone say the V word?

I do believe that proper nutrition, exercise and almost over-supplementation/vitamins is the key to recovery. Our body's have been compromised and we actually need more than the recommended to get anywhere close to the right amounts into our systems. Later on (3months+) you can cut back, but still take vitamins 2x/day

Vitamins and exercise are a must!!!!  My new addiction!!!!  I come here everyday and have surrounded myself with people who are very supportive.  We get together once or twice a week and talk about whatever comes to mind.  Some of the people have been clean for 20 plus years so have some good ideas for me.  It all helps.   sara

i started eating alittle better i also started to work out a few times a week. I walk whenever i can especially when stressed....one day at a time...some are easier than others... i try to remember that i am doing so good right now i wouldn't evr want to go back to my old ways   i'm getting a bit happier with myself, we're all different...so we all go threw things a bit differently...i think its about how we actually go threw them LOL

I can 100% say that this forum helped me change my life. It truly did. I was at rock bottom and thought I had no way out. Coming here and meeting everyone and hearing stories of other addicts and how they got clean. Making friends who were in trouble and needed help. Getting and staying clean together...this forum was a miracle to me...

Aftercare....definitely the hardest part of addiction..

Its so easy to get clean, compared to staying clean. One is extreme physical, the other totally mental.

the staying clean part is the part I was not aware of...never knew how tough it was after the physical thing was over...which is nothing in comparison to the aftermath....i just thought u quit /felt bad for a week or so and life goes on as usual...i really did!  Boy was I wrong....life can go on a usual but there is alot of changes that have to be made and alot of willpower and determination....the forum is a good type of aftercare, but counseling and/or meetings are vital..especially during the tough phase...just so happy i googled this forum randomly one day in the midst of being suffocated and stifled/depressed and not know what to do or how to do it....so glad i am where i am at today and feel as if i know some of u guys personally...maybe we will always be here posting and helping each other

this forum has also helped me the most. finally talking about it and not being in denial has made me realize there is more to addiction then just getting clean. although i need to start eating healthier, i get lots of excercise everyday at work and it feels good coming home, being a little sore. big difference working clean, i have so much more energy and that is crazy cause i was doing coke. this forum has worked for me. funny thing is, i never read one single post or nothing when i came on here. i had no idea what i was doing and i just wrote that i was one month clean. i truly had no idea anyone would read it, let alone start responding. that was the day i began to learn how to stay clean. i still remember avisg was the first to respond to me here and i was so excited i got congratulated cause i was so proud of being a month clean lol. damn im babbling today.
