Detox?

Hi, I was on the fentanyl patch,  75mcg every 48 hours and Percocet 10/650.  My pain management dr was fired.  Cannot find a dr even tho i've had 3 back surgeries.   How can I detox off these drugs i've been on for 5 years?  Does Clonidine help?

Hey Cinderelly & welcome!
So glad you're here and that you want to come off. Congratulations on your 4 clean days!  Fentanyl's definitely a tough one because you can't really taper and because it's a synthectic opiate but as hop6hope can testify it's doable. You're going through the worst of it right now! Your acute symptoms will most likely start to ease in the next 48 -60 hrs. Are you sure you just don't want to ride this out since you're already pushing through it? If not, your best options are probably a Suboxone or Methadone taper The trick is not to stay on either of them too long (i.e. less than 5 mos.) It won't be a cakewalk but it won't be like coming off Fentanyl/percs. cold. Yes, Clonidine does help a bit, though, you want to be careful w/ it. If you want more info on what to generally expect, etc. please feel free to 'message' me. Your ally in all this.

I was on the same combo I couldn't even taper due to the w/d being so bad. I had to use suboxone to get off of them. I know there is a lot of different things that will help the w/d more tolerable. The only thing that I know that takes them away is suboxone. If you take suboxone then you have to taper of that its not comfortable but it's tolerable. The w/d are no where near as bad as the fentanyl patch. I was told the fentanyl patches is the 2nd hardest thing to w/d from. Hang in there your doing amazing way better than I could have done. I could barely stand it for 24 hours.
