Detox'd and Home Now-Scared

I just got out of my second detox facility yesterday evening. My first was in 2002. I relapased after a year and a half and it took me this long to get back "with it". Im 31 years old, Im addicted to (especially) opiates, alcohol, benzos, whatever ya got ill take it, pretty much sums me up. Im scared right now, and very anxious. I didnt have anxiety when I was in detox (was there 6 days to get off of percs and vics with the suboxone whice I must say was wonderful) There are no meetings in my surrounding area today or tonight so I just thought Id air my dirty laundry here since Im having issues. Last night I went to the ER and told them everything, even tho Id been there many times drug seeking. I asked them for Vistaril (already got a ton of clonidine from my doc) for the anxiety, Im a calm person but last night I was bouncing off the walls. It was hard. My boyfriend realized, while I was in treatment, when he came for family day, that he too, was an alcoholic. He went to the doctor today and got something for his own anxiety. Im glad he woke up and is admitting it finally because Ive been telling him he was an addict for months but he didnt believe me. Hearing other peoples stories helped him admit it to himself. So Im grateful for that.
Anyhow, just wanted a place to vent. My first day home feels so weird and I feel alienated since Ive been with 20 people all week and all day Ive been alone. Usually alone is what I like and want but not right now.
Hope to meet some of you people who are like me. I miss those I met in detox already.

I wanted to add that while using the suboxone I didnt have any bad side effects or withdrawl symptoms from my opiate use, which was pretty high, about 20-30 percs or more a day + alcohol + somas. Its now been 19 hours since my last suboxone tab and Im doing extremely well except for the anxiety. I want it again now tho since it takes the cravings for opiates away and its all mind over matter. Im going to see a doctor, tell him my history, see if I can be on a small dose of sub. for a short period of time to keep those cravings at bay. The staff at my detox facility told me it may be a good idea and gave me paperwork to give to him.  Also, a girl I was detoxing with told me she took 8 tramadols and had a seizure at a concert. I have about 120 tramadols and wont touch em. I ordered them right before I decided to go into detox. Waste of 90 bucks. I coulda bought some shoes dammit.

I tried zoloft, clexar, effoxor, paxil, lexapro and possible one more it made me feel like I was on a bad high! I'm sure I will after I get a dr. and do it the right way. .I went from 120mg's of oc a dat to 20mg's-ish a day, BUT I also self medicate w/percs vic's oxy roxy, or subutex when I run out of something, because I really am trying to get off but hell no can I go cold turkey the longest i've made it doing that was till 9 at night ( i know why givce up then) So instead of going back to opiats when my supplier runs out of subutex i'm just going to get a script and have the dr. do it the right way.... Haha, no I have no intention to get married umm ever,LOL

I dont like the clonopin. It did nothing to ease the anxiety for me. Currently Ive got a little valium for that and that seems to help better than the ativan, librium, and clonopin. For me at least. Im just waiting to see my doc on the 5th and get on zoloft b/c I know it helped before and I never had the anxiety Im having now when I was on zoloft.
And as for envying me, youll get there too! I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to feel this **** were all going thru (ok maybe an ex mother in law or two). Are you doing it cold turkey? tapering? where are you at right now?

All I have to say is wow I give you alot of credit and actually envy you at this moment w/where you are and where I am...I'd give anything not to have the w/d symtoms....Also I seen you were asking about clonipin a short while back at least I think it was you...I have been addicted for 2 yrs straight to opiates and I have been prescribed clonipin for 6 yrs now and I swear by it, but if you have a problem abusing those kind of drugs i'd say there not for you...Me personally abused them way B4 I was prescribed, but now i'm on 3 a day, but only take 1 or 2 mostly as they are a dependent med. But they also work as needed unlike anti-depressants that make me feel awful..

Go to Wal mart or any good health food store.  Buy Emergen-C brand mineral/electrolyte packets. At wal mart usually 8.84.  Other stores up to 12.00.  Thirty packets per box I think.  All kinds of flavors.  Also helps with energy.  I am the mother of two opiate addicts.  Found y'all while looking for info to help my son who is trying to cold-turkey methadone.  I forgot that searching for "methadone detox" would pull up all the "wonderful gov. -approved clinics".  What a joke!!!  Anyway, I have seen my sons struggle with addiction for 10 years now and was glad to find this site.  I will keep all of you in my prayers along with my two boys!  Hang in and hold on!!!   Better times are around the corner.  All of you remember to be very proud of yourselves for having the courage to face the battle.   Proud Mom

My suggestion is to stop wondering about, and asking about, other medications such as trazadone, methadone, whatever-done and just be done.  Mother nature has everything you need to help with the withdrawal aspects, and you won't have to do the double-dutch.

The best advice anybody can give you all is to expect to feel miserable for a couple of weeks.  Nothing you can really do will help all that much.  Yes, valium can ease anxiety.  Trazadone can help with sleep.  Methadone/suboxone can kill the cravings.  Yet all these products mask the real underlying problems - you abused your body and it takes time to heal itself, both physically and especially mentally.  Once you stop fighting the reality, you will start the true healing.

Hey I just found this website and it is the best thing in the world!  I have one day and am more dehydrated than I have ever been before.  I can hardly keep water down and I too am alone in my apartment.  Being alone is a scary thing for us addicts.

My psychiatrist prescribed naltoxone which helps with cravings.  This might be a good option for you.  It has worked for a lot of people.  Of course I stopped taking it and had a miserable relapse.
He also prescribed Buspar for anxiety and mirtazapine to help me with depression and sleep.

Well, hang in there chicka.  I am trying to survive the hell I am going through . . . I am so sick.

Does anyone suggest taking trazedone or any of the above meds while I am this sick and dehydrated.  I feel like my left kidney is in pain and not sure what to do besides taking vitamins.

I have never withdrawn from Methadone.  I hear that it is a monster.  I do know this, I have withdrawn from every other opiate, heroin, oxy, dilaudid, norco etc,  Every other drug I was down and out for 7 to 10 days.  Sub took me a month to withdraw from.  It was awful man.  Of course I was on it for over 3 years.  Some people on this forum just use it for about 3 weeks and have minimal withdrawal.  I was sucked into the DR's B^%$S*%% when they told me I had to be on it for years,  The 18th I will have been off of sub for 60 days and I am much much better now.  I hear that methadone can last for months.  Good luck

Isn't Sub just a Methadone replacement? Which is stronger and harder to detox
from,if you don't mind telling me? If Sub is not as hard to detox from, then maybe
I should try it. I've been on Methadone for 5 years now. Thanks.

Hello there, I am so glad you found this site.  We will be here for you you.  Please give great consideration to not going back on Suboxone at this stage in your recovery.  I was on it for over three years and it was one of the hardest drugs I ever kicked and it won't matter if it is in small doses, if you stay on SUB for a long period of time you will go through severe withdrawals. Good luck to you and if you are six days clean then you are almost there.  Drive as far as you have to to find a meeting!!!  :)

If you don't mind me asking, what's your DOC? Mind is Coke, but have stayed away
for 5 years now. The rehab I went through, that did the Niacin, drug bomb, and sauna
setup, really made me stop using completely. I have really no desire for that garbage
anymore. Had no withdrawls from that process at all. Tried almost the same process
at my home for my Methadone addiction, with no success whatsoever. I never would
have guessed that a drug like Methadone, would be 100% harder to detox from than
cocaine. Coke is such a powerful drug and I really don't feel anything from the damn
Methadone, just once you stop taking it,and have the worst withdrawl symptoms on
this planet. The difference is that Coke is a mental thing and the Methadone is both
that and physical, that's why people relapse so often ,when trying to detox from it.
Good luck on Thursday with the therapy. Peace be with you.

I'm struggling with a high dose of Oxy also. I'm taking between 300-450mg per day.
It's insane until I read that you were taking 1000mg. No offense. I also have a very
high tolerance to most drugs, especially the Oxy family of drugs. I'm also taking
Methadone. I never had any withdrawl symptoms when I abruptly stopped the Oxy,
so I figured I would just get off the Methadone and then work on the Oxy. Boy was
I mistaken. Stopped taking,or ran out of my months presciption of oxy about 2 weeks
before I C/T'd the Methadone. The withdrawls were intense,to say the least, but I got
to the point, that I needed to get some releif of my legit pain,so I started back on
the oxy's. It was great, since it stopped my pain and completely curbed the Methadone
withdrawls completely. The only bad thing was that every 4-5 hours after taking the
Oxy,wicked withdrawls would slam me right away and mind you,I was only taking
about a quarter of what I was taking be for I C/T'd the "Done". I was completely
prolonging the Methadone detox and once I stopped the Oxy,was going through the
withdrawl effects from both serious butt kickin' drugs at the same damn time. I just
couldn't take the mental and physical pain anymore. Almost killed myself on numberous
occassions. If I didn't have this nightmare methadone addiction,I'd be right with you
detoxing from our DOC. Sorry for the ranting, just needed to vent again. Congrats of
your fifth day off the junk. Once I get some real professional help next week for my
Methadone issue,I'll be right on your heals. Good luck.

Hang in there. As U probably know it will get better. I am on my fifth day clean after a four year 1000mg daily of Oxycodone. As much as the DOC for me was more powrful, my addiction started on Percs also. Onfortunately for me, my body is naturally resistant to most drugs, or rather, I have a high tolerance.

Stay with it, U are not alone. In five days I can already see the magic.

Good luck and God Bless.

Detox was fun, huh?  I've done that too many times to count...

No comes the real hard part - longterm sobriety.  Like you, I have been through the spin-cycle of opiate addiction, convincing myself everytime I could handle the drugs.  But they always end up handling YOU.  So you come here to vent and get support, right?

Support you got.  Vent away.

The anxiety is frustrating.  I use Valerian root and dose up real good.  May work for you too.

Good luck.
