Detoxing - Dr. - Hello!

by bladerunnerb, May 27, 2008 10:51AM
Hello, my friends.  I'm back..but this time on a plan with my doctor.  My doctor has me on .1 clonidine two/three times a day for the opiate withdrawals.  My last pills (Lortab) were 3 - 5mg pills yesterday at 3pm.  Normally, I would be totally a mess at this point...but the clonidine allowed me to sleep and it's taking the edge off things.  Day 1 has been much more tolerable than cold turkey without clonidine...I've done that twice before.  So, I would highly recommend that if you can, see if your doctor would help by prescribing clonidine.  Those of you that do it cold turkey without clonidine...wow...you have my respect...I couldn't do it!  Day 2 and 3 will be the real test...I know that, but so far the difference in Day 1 is unreal...and I mean that.  I read lots of posts on here before about you should try clonidine and I always thought "I can do this"...but the clonidine does work well and giving me the strength to continue to fight this thing by not being so bashed by the physical withdrawal symptoms.

I'll try to keep updating this.  For me (I hope you understand), sometimes it's not better to read the posts and just keep busy.  Otherwise I think about it too much.  But, I'll try and let you know how the next few days go.  I hope everyone is doing well!  I go back to the doctor Thursday for a checkup for him to check on me.

By the way, I'm the person that the pain management doctor told me "just quit" with no help.  I went back to my family doctor and he was appalled at that answer...and the family doctor is helping me.  So, talk to your doctor...most of them WILL help you...they realize how potent this stuff is and what it can do.
