Detoxing off of Oxycotin and My leg won't stop twitching

by kberrier, Oct 04, 2008 01:41AM
Okay, so I'm going on day three of detoxing off of oxycotin.  Doing better today than yesterday, the only problem is I'm trying to get to sleep now and my let won't stop doing this uncomfortable tingling thing.  Is this normal?  What can I do to make it stop.  I get up and walk and then try to go back to bed and it just starts doing it again.  I can't afford another sleepless night.  I'm so tired and just want to go to bed and forget about this horrible addiction.  Anyways. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and any advice to make my leg stop feeling this way?  Thanks to all who are being supportive!  It really helps!

Hi,
my name is Jen and I have been an addict to all kinds of opiates for awhile. I've been recovering for about 6months. I saw your post and wanted to tell you that unfortunately what you are going threw is a form of detoxing. Yes it will go away you just have to give it time. I'm sure rite now that is not so comforting since you want to get to sleep. I would suggest if you have a doctor and can get in quickly see the DR and get on some type of minor sleep aid that is not addicting and the DR can monitor your use on it. And if you don't have a Dr. then get some type of PM med to help you get some sleep. Just keep in mind they can be addicting. I hope that is some sort of help for you

take some benadryl allergy or nyquil or tylenol pm or ambien or whatever

eat a banana or two, drink some gatorade or cranberry juice

about 20 or 30 min later get in as hot of bath as u can possibly stand

sit in there and relax as much as possible

get out and get directly in bed

the banana /gatorade or cran juice help alot for me

and the hot bath really help ur legs to relax and it has realllly helped me during withdraws

good luck

yeah, we  know very well what you're talking about. It's called restless legs syndrome (RLS) and some people have it  even without detoxing from opiates involved, so take it like another part of the cleaning stuff ( a bad flu, rls.. ) .

bananas, magnesium and gatored  are very, very good  wth the  rls  and everything you've already been told but  i also bought one of those creams  (OTC) that  are ice cold when used  and i prefer creams because i cover my whole legs and arms cause muscle relaxer creams were not enough , i just  needed freezing my legs !.

I'm in another continent so i might not give any  useful brandnames  to you but this phytocoldcream from sawes is making the difference to me ( i can even sleep all in all ). some people find that heat pads are  better for them ( i've just remembered it, heat was hell for me). good luck , kberrier.
