It is late at night. A lot people have gone to bed, so please be patient for someone to come on and answer you.

Take care.

Well newcomer you did not give us much info to work with. I can tell you as your probably already know so that other readers understand. You are addicted to to types of amphetamine drugs usually prescribed for obesity, the first Phentermine or Ionamin with a usual dose of 1 30mg capsule or the 37.5 mg capsule, You are taking this medication in the morning and may have been first prescribed for you in the treatment of obesity, How long have you been on it and how many per day?

The next drug Didrex or Benzphetamine is also an anti obesity drug. This drug is anorexic in action.  The main function of the drug is to curb hunger, which intern reduces calorie intake. Although the of action of the appetite suppressants in the treatment of obesity is not fully known, these medications have pharmacological effects similar to those of amphetamines. Amphetamines and related medications such as Didrex are thought to stimulate the release of norepinephrine and /or dopamine from storage sites in nerve terminals in the lateral feeding center, thereby producing a decrease in appetite. This release is medicated by binding Benzphetamine to centrally located adrenergic receptors. Tolerance have been demonstrated with all drugs of this class in which these phenomena have been looked for. Didrex should not be given to patients in an agitated state or with a history of drug abuse .Didrex is a schedule 3 drug . Most members of the amphetamine family are regulated under highly regulated  schedule 2. Didrex does have a highly addictive abuse potential, as it is broken down by the liver first to amphetamine and then to methamphetamine, However it is a longer than usual amount of time the user is willing to wait so they think by taking more of the drug they will get higher, this is how many patients overdose on the drug because the liver needs time to break down the medication into methamphetamine, If you are taking this drug in combination with Ionamin your are in serious need of addiction recovery.

Have you lost the weight you wanted to and the doctor is still writing you the same meds, or are you buying them the web or are you doctor shopping, What makes you feel like you cannot ween down from the drug, all you are going to suffer is chronic fatigue, I cant understand why your md would have your taking the 2 medications unless you had a great deal of weight, Or is your medication obtained by other means, You can taper down, do you crush the didrex and what is the feelings you experience when you run short for a few days, You as a rule go for days without sleep or get by on 1-4 hrs of rest per night never realy reaching REM. Life without your best friend is hard to adjust to period but the detox and rebound effects of stopping are far less than many go through here trying to get off there DOC, So you will sleep a lot and not have the energy to be superwoman any more, but the question is are you ready to start a new life no matter what it takes for your sake. Getting clean is a choice you make on your own when your ready, otherwise you could suffer a stroke or heart attack, Have you ever used street methamphetamine and or cocaine, Tell us your biggest fear of stopping is and we will go from there! -------------------NOAH

I was overweight my junior/senior year in h.s. a doctor prescribed my phentermine which totally worked. that in combination with intensive workouts helped me lose 90+lbs. i took them everyday for about 3 months. then i took them every other day for a bit after that. then I would just take them when felt like i needed an appetite suppressant. My best advice would be to split your pill(if it's a 37.5mg tblt) and take half in the am--and half in the afternoon. half a pill will last for the whole day, you just have to get that in your head....i know it's hard. if you can alternate days, it will really work. look at it like this, if you can take a couple days off, they work even better. don't look at it as if you have to quit and never take them again, just try and give your body a break. before you know it, you won't "have" to take them. i know that feeling-it's easy with them as the energy associated with them is great. even tiredness is the only real side effect i ever experienced with them, and that only hit a few days after i stopped. skipping days will help you taper down, i promise. good luck.

I have been taking phentermine for years and years.  You have nothing to worry about as far as "real withdrawal" - at least not anywhere close to the way people on this site are suffering, some as we speak.  You will feel fatigued and that is about it, maybe a little depression.  But nothing at all to worry about, in fact in many ways you should feel better, not as anxious as usual, etc.  Back when i first started taking the diet pills, they actually worked as far as appetite suppression went but they affected my personality big time, in the afternoon when the pill would start wearing off, i felt so so bad and turned into a big time ***** - something my husband and children should not have had to endure, they should have had the real me, and that is something I still to this day feel such guilt about.  They do not produce the same negative side effects any longer but they also do not do much to curb my appetite, they just help me from falling to sleep while driving to visit my kids every weekend and help me work at night without falling asleep in my chair.
