Dilaudid to Methadone?

Dilaudid to Methadone?

I'm wondering if it's worth it. Either I go cold turkey in the next few days, because I'm running out of everything, or I make the call and go on Methadone. I'm DEFINITELY ready to quit, but here's what I'm faced with when it comes to Methadone:

First, here's what I'm used to doing: 10-12mgs dilaudid IM (muscle) every 4-6 hours for the past 3 mos, but before that, I was abusing 10mg Perks for several years. I now have my own 5mgs of Methadone, and I need to take 35mgs to not feel sick. My next dose will be gone tomorrow, then I have 5 10mg Vic's I can take, but I really don't think I'll make it past Tuesday morning.

My concern is that the clinic wont give me any liquid Methadone because I'm on such a low dose of the pills, or does it even matter? I've heard of many people on higher doses and this is the reason I ask. Will they even consider helping me?

On the other hand, I'm also worried that they'll give me a higher dose than I need, and I have problems with low blood pressure, and it's really a miracle that I'm even alive (like most of us here). But, I mean, my b/p has dropped to 65/53 in the past due to playing with this cra@p, and at times, I wonder if its my low b/p making me feel high or the drugs! Crazy! Point: I dont wanna walk out of there to end up dead on the sidewalk due to getting too much. Of course, right?!

So, to the people who've gone the Methadone route, will they work with me, meaning, go by what I take now, or do you think it's best that I go cold turkey? I also have to worry about going into atrial fibrillation due to all the stress that the withdrawals put on my heart, which has happened to me in the past, and I landed in the hosp. I'm on heart pills on a daily basis as it is. I know, Im an idiot, but I never planned to become an addict. :(

So, obviously, this is not the first time I'll be having withdrawals, but I'm doing more drugs this time around, and it's also the first time I'll be without the needle (IM). Experiences with IM withdrawal vs orally will be much appreciated as well. Thanks ahead of time. "Nickie, don't panic, won't help me." K? Please? Thanks! ;-)
