Hi there & thanks for posting. As my friend, Toothfairie, says: it's great that you've stopped now. The longer the habit, the older you are, the harder it is to get your brain to 'readjust'.

The great news is that you're really young & were using at a low dose for a short period of time. Exercise, proper hydration & a good unprocessed diet should speed your recovery. Yes, if this is your first habit, your endorphin function should definitely 'bounce back' relatively quickly. (It did for me at your age when I came off of Heroin.)

An example of a mid-level Hydro habit would be something along the lines of 100 - 150 mgs. per day for 5 years or so. Everyone's different, though, so it's not particularly helpful to use others as a yardstick as it can be discouraging. In your case, however, you're one of the lucky ones if you manage to put this behind you & never look back. If you feel that you were actually 'abusing' & feel a pull to use again, then you should definitely look into aftercare as addiction is mostly a mental/emotional/stress-related phenomenon & not truly a physical issue. Here's wishing you all the Clarity & Determination you'll need to make this stick!

So...you were abusing the Vicodin. Good for you for stopping! It doesn't take long to get out of control, having to take more and more and not being ABLE to stop with some pretty awful wd's if you do!

How much is a lot?  First, if you don't take them for pain then anything is too much because you WILL up the dose pretty quickly.  Too long is anything past 3 months.

It's good that you stopped now...i was a long long time abuser of hydros....alot more than you were...you should be ok...and yes long term it will effect your endorphins. The longer you use, the longer it takes to all balance back out....so stay off them if you aren't using for legit pain....it's a long dark slippery slope hon...best to stay away!!  I'm no doctor but i think you will be fine.  As long as you stay off them.

To be honest I was taking them because they made me feel really good. I stopped cold turkey because I didn't want it to get out of control.

If this is low dose for a brief period of time, then what would be considered a lot for a long time?

Hi there- it doesn't sound like you were abusing as far as the dose goes...did you take them for pain?

You should be just fine. It's a small dose for a brief period of time; not unusual. I really doubt you did any long term damage. Don't worry.
