Do you recomend Suboxone

I have been addicted to painkillers hydros for about a year taking 10 to 15 per day mostly 10-500's.  I am desperate to stop but the withdrawls i am having are pure Hell.  I am doing research on help and I came accross Suboxone.  Has anyone out there had a good experience with the drug?   And does insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shield cover most the cost?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

I would only suggest subooxone to those who have tried may times to stop and were taking large amount of opiates. I was up to taking 40+ norcos (10/325) mixed with tramadol. For me, suboxone has been a life saver. I could never wean off of opiates but I can with suboxone because I am not addicted to it (only dependent). I have weaned down from 16mg to about 0.25mg. IMO, I would not go on suboxone if I were you unless you feel you really can't do it alone. Your dosage is relatively low. But only you can decide what you can and cannot handle. Suboxone can be a great tool but you need to learn as much about it as possible. Good luck in whatever you choose!

50 mgs of hydro per day is not usually a sub need...a bit extreme...sub is much stronger per mg than hydro..i was at 100 mg of hydro and 2 mg of sub sent me flying for the day...and is why i dint use it to detox...tough wd..sub is...and stronger than my doc...and considering i suk at tapering/as do most addicts/i just didnt see the point...i woulda been stuck of sub then had to wd from it..which is much harder than a 50 mg hydro wd after a yr...but we r all different...wds suk...but in reality there is really no way around them...plan the flu for a few days and get it done..if u go the sub route..educate urself on that sticky stuff....we r all different and u gotta do what is right for u....

If you're seeking help when it comes to getting off of the pain pills, then I'd suggest that you first speak with your PCP and tll them what your feelings are with all of this. Hopefully, you and your PCP have obtained some sort of relationship thus far, and he/she will be able and willing to help you with whatever it is they feel would be medically necessary for you to get through your road to recovery, as we call it here on the forums. Best of luck to you, and I hope you continue to post here and let us know how everything is going.

yes i do, i am on suboxone and it has saved my life, i have 2 kids and was strung out on pills VERY bad, i went to suboxone and have totally changed my life, you have to really want to be clean or NOTHING you do will help you, it all starts with you, suboxone is a great tool to help you if the want is there, i started out on 3 a day and am now on 1, i will come down a half and then i will only get a 2 mg one and then IM DONE, you dont know how good i feel about myself being clean and able to pass a drug test, for about 8 years i couldnt never pass one, i am able to deal with life and not do it by gettin a buzz, when your on drugs, all of them, you dont have any feelings about anything in life and your answer to everything is to get high, but life has so much to offer if you just look through clear eyes, i hope my insight on suboxone will help you and i hope for you that you make the right decision for yourself, i know without even knowing you that your life is worth saving and getting off of drugs is the way to do it, just go outside and look at the sky and look at what type of world that GOD created for us to live in and enjoy, just think real hard if your ready to give your life up just to get a buzz, i will have you in my prayers and i am telling you from experience that if your ready to get clean, go to a suboxone doc and you will see just what you have been missing out on, i guess i am ramblin but it just makes me so happy to think that i can help some1 with a problem that i HAD ,and i just want you to know that your worth saving, GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
