Does Klonopin work for panic attacks?

My doctor put me on klonopin for panic attacks but it seems to just make me sleepy.  Sometimes I have panic attacks so bad I want to take the klonopin but I can't be productive if I do.  The tablets are 1 mg.  Any suggestions?  Thank you, Babs

Klonopin is very strong..you can try to half them...Are ask him for ativan..it is less addicting and doesn't make you drowsy..Be carefull with the klonopin very addicting..Benzo's are hard to get off of..Take only when you really need too..

Until I can get in touch with the doctor, what would you suggest?  I took a tab at noon today and it calmed me down.  But now I'm getting all panicky again.  Could I take another one now?

you took a lortab you mean?? I have horrble panic attacks and i have ativan and klonpin..I only take the klonopin when i really need...i take the adivan the other times..I have had panic attacks since i was young..i would tell you to maybe take a fourth , if it is making you sleepy..
Also this helps alot, breath in for 10 long seconds and taking it all it, then breath out for 10 longs seconds , do this until you feel better..I can't tell you how this has saved my butt for passing out in church, or social gatterings...it really works.

I am in agreement with Road2...The doctor perscribed me up to 2mg 2xdaily...but I found that 1/2 of a .5mg tablet had taken my panic attacks away w/o making me sleepy. So I just take .5mg tablet and cut in 1/2 and take one in the morning and the other 1/2 at night. Klonopin is very very pontent..

I know this sounds silly, but I had two different doctors tell me that Benedryl can act as a mild anti-anxiety drug.  When I was pregnant I couldn't take my xanex, etc. but Benedryl is safe.  My family doctor and my OB both told me this about the Benedryl.  They said it's good to know because it can help anyone with panic disorder in a pinch - since it is sold OTC everywhere.  Unfortunately it is the 'sleepy' acting part of it that helps with the panic so it's hard to avoid.  But if it's too strong and you're desperate, try the Benedryl.  It never hurts!

i don't know any other way to do this..
oh---and we are suppose to be going redfishing sat...thought you would like to hear that..i have not fished since my surgery so i hope we catch, and it is not too hot or the nats are not bad..
