Does anyone Know of a subsitute pain med other then an opiate?

I have been taking Norco 10/325 at 5 to 6 a day for disc fusion at C5-6 level for 4 years now. Presently starting second day of detox.  It is a forced detox as no refills filled on a holiday.  My situation is I have another fusion (C6-7) on Thursday and would like to not have to go through this insanity again.  Any information would be greatly useful.

there is a pain med called "Toradol" its not an opiate but it doesnt help (IMO) much either.  Sorry...

Thanx, what is this Suboxone, do you know anything about that.  I keep having to detox the last 4 days prior to a refill and I am just tired of it.  Pain Management was an option, but I just think I will end up with more meds to get off of.  It may be my only choice, But it sure is hard to decide when you are either using or detoxing.  What a circle.

Please Please Please do not take it! I was on 12 norco a day and the Dr. Put me on subs to get off norcs. .. worst decision I could have made. Yes its all good and dandy during your suboxon faze but coning off subs in 20× worse the cold Turkey off opiates.  Please believe me. I was only on them for 4-5 months and on norco for 2 years.
Here's my point-to-point cold Turkey off opiates is 4-8 days off discomfort.  Weaning off subs was 14-38 days off he'll! Not kidding you..
My doctor visit once a month was 600.00$$$ plus my prescription for subs was 500.00 a month... not worth it! Bank robbery. ..
please listen. I only speak truth. Also withdrawal off subs is sooooo much worse. More pain more puking more runs more anxiety more hell!!!!
