NO - - plain fiornal is only butalbital - a barbiturate.  There are formula's similar to tylenols that contain 15/30/60mg's of codeine - - - but these also contain the barbituarate butalbital. Not every fironal capsule contains codeine.

Aspirin is a pain reliever, as well as an anti-inflammatory and a fever reducer.

Butalbital is in a class of drugs called barbiturates that slow down your central nervous system (brain and nerve impulses) and cause relaxation.

Caffeine is believed to constrict dilated blood vessels (veins and arteries) that may contribute to tension headaches.

Fiorinal is used to relieve complex tension headaches, although precisely how it works is unknown.

Fiorinal may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication

I was on this for migraines for 3 years and then moved to Fiorianl PLUS codine

fiorinal #3 used to be the most commonly prescribed of the butalbital compounds...but as mentioned it will actually say #3 or w/ codeine or appear as the 4th ingredient on a generic. it's not prescribed very often anymore due to its potential for abuse and also because tylenol has become favored over asprin. unfortunately they've been slow to catch on that butalbital alone can be rather addicting.
