This isnt really going to help, but Ive heard both that it does show up and that they have to do a specific test for suboxone so Im not sure which is right. I am also on suboxone and have been wondering the same thing for awhile now. I know methadone never came up on any drug tests Ive taken and originally I was informed that sub doesnt come up on traditional drug tests, but some more advanced tests may screen for buprenorphine. I know at least for me its kind of embarassing but maybe you could be upfront with them and let them know what medication you take, so that they could realize that your someone working your way back to complete sobriety, I know that sounds somewhat lame, I dont know if I would have the courage to do it, so I dont know why I would tell you to but its always an option. I'll try and research a little more, and if you find out anything for sure let me know, because I to am looking for employment and Im wondering about that very fact. One other question before I go, how long do you plan on being on sub? what dose are you at? If you'd rather keep it private thats ok, no worries. Let me know though if you find out about the drug tests. Peace and Good luck to ya!

No, standard drug tests do not show Sub - - there are tests for it but generally not used.  Hope this helps.

I have always been honest with my employers about the meds I am on. As long as you have a legal script it shouldn't be a problem. I think it is best to be honest because if they find out a different way they may think your lying about other stuff too.

It will be a hard one to explain. They will know you are a drug addict if you tell them the truth or even if they test for it and find it. At least with an opiate you can say it was for a condition.
