ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
Don't I have to want to quit more than I want to use???

Don't I have to want to quit more than I want to use???

I do suffer major pain from sever ostioarthritis, carpotunel, and very bad migraines. But 12 plus Norco a day is not good and each I try to reduce the amount I take but most days I unsuccessful.  What I have become is addicted and depended and pretty much a slave to these pills.  I also have been given the Fentanyl patch as the Doc know thinks I should on long acting meds.  I have tried these on and off and I don't feel like I have any meds in my system at all, I posted once about why people are so addicted to the patch.  I don't feel like they do anything for me.  I have a new script for the 50 mcg but have not picked them up.  I have used the patch to get by when I am out of Norco and to help with WD and get by until refill day of my Norco.  The Norco helps tremendously for the pain, but I do abuse them and enjoy them to much.   I do need to quit, but I am asking myself today... Don't I have to want to quit more than I want to use?  I find myself not wanting to answer this question.  How do all of you get to the point of not wanting to use anymore, more than wanting to use.  What is it going to take. ?

well
guess many just get sick and tired of being sick and tired,,,i did
I am a chronic pain patient as well...there comes a point where this is not about pain anymore..it is about addiction.
The fentanyl is a bear to get off of..wouldnt go there if i were u..long wd compared to ur norco habit
U could be digging urself deeper...there are things more painful than physical pain...believe me on that if u can
I dont think there is a trick to Wanting to stop...it just happens, for some later/or never than others.  Using leads nowhere good..it leads nowhere..period.

You are realizing u have a problem..which is the first step..so u r farther along than u may think
The day most realize they have a problem is not usually the day they quit.  It will dwell in ur mind, and using isnt so satisfying anymore..cos u have realized u r slowly self destructing, and for most, that is not a good feeling at all
It will come...the day u will be tired of it.  U will want ur control back...for now, u r where u r...but i bet u move forward in time...just give it time...when u ready...u will feel it in ur bones!

I know alot about each drug...a lortab user for 5 yrs...and been around folks wd-ing from fentanyl.
The fentanyl does not have the kick norco does..it does not have the nrg kick/the happy feeling norco/hydro does....not saying that is why u prefer it, but just food for thought.  Fentanyl would relieve pain more successfully in 99% of cases tho vs hydro
