Dr.Shopping

Can someone please defy to me dr shopping?

i have a refill remaining at local pharm.....saw another dr, and prescribed me same medication....

What is the "LEGAL" length of time before filling for it not to be considered dr shopping?

It never looks good when you are getting multiple scripts for the same med from diffrent doctors. Second do not turn the second sript in until the first one has run out

More than one doctor, same med you will be black-balled from pharmacies and your doctors. They are really cracking down more than ever.

thanks for your advice, what otc can i use to help the pain, i was using loratab, somas, whatever, i am day 5 still alive i turned 49 today and i feel 69 but when i turn 50 i am gonna feel 40, thanks neice

Maybe your question was asked incorrectly or misunderstood.

Are you using only one doctor for your script? And if so, why are you switching pharmacies? If it is because you think they will fill it early and not tell the other pharmacy, guess again. The pharmacies are finally starting to link to one another to stop people from filling early, using different doctors, etc.

Be careful. If they do catch you...again, you will be black-balled and if you plan to taper as you said you want to, you will be cut off. This could be physically dangerous for you.

I use diff pharm bc some are cheaper than others (I have no insurance)......i have 2 diff doctors bc i frequent the west coast on alot of business, have a dr there, and one on the east coast....

i fill scripts ONLY when one is finished....I NEVER OVERLAP!

I really don't know for sure but it is bordering on dangerous. Again, I would hate to see you lose your scripts and get in trouble as well. You have come this far, why chance it.

as long as your dates don't overlap and if you use 2 different pharmacies that are not in the same computer system nothing will happen. As long as your insurance will cover most pharmacies don't care. If it is a class N and both pharmacies have a board inspections is the only way it would be double checked. I used to work in a pharmacy and only the class N is recorded strictly and checked over by the pharmacist nightly. The main thing is keep your dates accurate and if you have insurance then they take all the guessing out of it.

They are all starting to do it hun. Big and small. The DEA is cracking down again. They did a big crack down about 2 or 2-1/2 years ago and they are back at it.

Maybe this is a good time to get working on that taper, what do you think?

Not trying to argue here, actually hoping to end this. I think at this point enough people have given you advise. It seems you are waiting for someone to tell you what you want to hear. No problem but I doubt you will hear it here. We want to help you are we are trying to tell you what we know to be true, what has happened to us, what has happened to someone we know, etc. At this point, it is up to you.

I am confused.......if you are doing nothing wrong then why are you worried??  Do both your doctors know about each other??

why would you ask what the legal time in between filling scripts if you are not filling one before the other has run out . Most pharmacies are connecting with each other to get dr shoppers .do both of your doctors know the other one is giving you the same pills.In my state there is a state wide database whenever you get a CS filled it put you into a computer if then you go to doctor and  another pharmacy and fill another script it reports it .It does not matter whether you have ins or not .

My friend did if for a while.  She apparently got mad at one doctor and went to see another one.......she got the same scripts that her other doctor gave her.  Continued to use the refills from the other doc while fillig from the new doc....most of the meds were not Narcotics except for codeine and she just thought "why waste them, they were hers in her mind"  after the refills ran out, she uses just her new doc.....she is kind of an odd individual, but I wouldn't do it if it is narcotic meds.....not sure if its legal with the non narcotics either though?.........just dont' do it and there will be no worries....
