Yes I have. I have been on tussionex polisterix( hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine-antihistamine) 12 hour extended release cough syrup for over 8 years, I have been dependent for a little over a year. Also, .5mg xanax 2 a day for 3 years, been dependent for about 2 years. ( This is definitely not common) Most will eperience somee type of withdrawal symptoms after about 7-10 days on opiates and/ or benzos.

but what drugs hav you actully stoppd taking? i was jus wondring what you had gone thru firshand. Thank you, MS DAYTONA
well i weaned off of ativan when i was 19 to go on ambien instead. And I weaned off of tussionex and xanax when hubby and i decided to have a baby. Many women don't have the luxury of weaning off xanax as many pregancies are not planned and the stress on the body and to the fetus is typically more risky than getting off of the drug. I'm not currently getting off of either one. I'm taking them as treatment that nothing else has worked for. I've been through withdrawal when I sleep in really late on the weekends, or I run out of meds b/c I get too busy to remember to call in a refill, I even left the state last year without my xanax and it took 4 days before I got any n(that was very dangerous) due to a snow storm, stuff like that.

I was wondering the same thing.2 to 3 weeks wds ? peak at 72 hours ? unless time release like oxys opiates clear your system in 72 hours, peak wds are usually about 36 hrs and why not ct ? Its not fatal and tapering is quite a project. Not that it cant be done,it is but its commen to try and taper and end up going ct,,,whatever works for you is best
Yes the statistics are 2-3 week withdrawals peaking at 72 hours. Extented release and long acting drugs are different. Methadone is a very long acting opiate and for those on methadone maintenence it can take up to 30 days to experience w/d symptoms, in some cases 60 days. That is the average on the bell curve. And opiate withdrawal can be fatal just usually in unhealthy patients. It is very rare though. However, going c/t can cause permanent damage to nerve cells in the central nervous system & cardiopulmonary system.
