Hello, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I went to an accurpunturiest today. It felt wonderful. He told me what I already knew that my legs hold all of my pain and they are very tight, which in turn leads to RLS at night. I am 11 Days clean off Methadone and he gave me a bottle of herbs called
Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang, Peony & Licorice Combination, do you know what these are used for, he told me to take three a day with warm water and it would help me?
Thank you.

well even though in pill form, they are still herbs and these particular herbs have no known addictive properties. That's great if advil is helping. Any type of muscular pain is probably going to do much better with ibuprofen (advil, motrin) because unlike acetaminophen (tylenol) motrin is a muscle relaxant also. And tylenol is so acidic that it will trash your kidneys and liver over time.

Thank you so much for the information. I am only going to use them if I really need to. Right now advil is helping somewhat. I guess I am scared to take any other kind of pill ever again!

The combination works on the liver and slpeen. TCM( Traditional Chinese Medicine) believes that pain and spasms are caused by blood stagnation ( particularly stagnation in the liver for pain) I believe I vaguely mentioned this in a post a couple weeks ago when someone asked aout alternative medications to pain. So this combo. nourishes the blood and emolliates the liver to in turn, stop pain and spasms. Herbal supplements are not typically given in combinations but this particular combination has been used for thousands of years to treat pain and muscle spasms and even headache in some cases so if you take one without the other you won't receive the full benefits. Be careful as the drug interactins for these herbs have not yet been established so make sure you talk to your doctor. I rally hope the herbs are successful for you. I don't currently have any patients on these herbs but I have known it to be taken for spasms and pain and is often effective for spasms (like your RLS)

I hope this is helpful hun. Make sure you let us know how you are doing with it please.
