Energy

Hello all. I am new to this board but certainly not new to addiction and withdrawal etc. I have been on an ongoing battle with oxycontin for about 1.5 yrs now. Anyway I have my system for most things now but I was wondering what everyone does for the lack of energy that comes from sobriety. I often find it hard to complete the smallest tasks and this is after withdrawal is over. Any suggestions are appreciated. I know exercise helps but getting thhe energy to get to the gym is the hard part.

You can't expect to become a " Going concern," after withdrawal. Your body has to slowly build up it's strength and it is defenitely not an overnight thing.our body has been sapped of it's strength for long periods of time and has to rebuild. You can take some supplements but the reality is that your body will heal at it's own pace. Be patient and don't try to do too much too quick. Any sickness needs a recovery time and it depends on what you are recovering from that dictates how long before you are able to function normally.

I agree with Mangee. We addicts like to 'take care of' (get rid of) uncomfortable feelings (BOTH emotions AND physical ones). Part of the thing during recovery is to just 'sit' with what you're feeling and allowing your body to do what it needs to do without being 'under seige' from the drugs (and everything that comes with them).

Welcome! Jessica
