Excessive use of cough syrup!!!

I am 30 years old, I am a heavy smoker, and also addicted to cough syrup called "Pulmonol" it contains :[Ephedrine:5mg/5ml, Chlorpheniramine (Maleate):5mg/5ml, Ipecac:0.025ml/5ml, Potassium Guaiacolsulphonate:5mg/5ml, Potassium Salts:0.1mg/5ml, Ammonium Chloride:25mg/5ml, Senega:0.05ml/5ml, Menthol:1mg/5ml, Terpin Hydrate:10mg/5ml, Potassium Bicarbonate:0.1mg

I have been using pulmonol for 3 years every single day now, please let me know  does it have any side effects? what are the adverse actions of this drug being used excessively, a detailed answer will be much appreciated :) thanks

What dose are you taking & what effects are you getting?

None of these ingredients are designed for long term use so side effects arising from such use have not really been studied.  Excessive use of ephedrine strains the cardiovascular system & increases the risk of stroke & heart attack. As you are already at higher risk due to your smoking habit, this is probably the biggest exposure you are facing.

I'm sure you know that you would be much better off without either habit.  You will find great support here if you do plan to quit.

Thank you much for responding to my post, well I consume 120ml bottle of cough syrup in about 3 days, and yes I do want to quit both but do not see how is it possible......about any effects that I feel, i do not feel any side effects as of yet, but i know both these things are silent killers and must be doing something wrong in me somewhere...
