Extended release pain meds

Extended release pain meds

I take 12-15 lortab 10 a day,my doctor in an effort to help me get off, gave me opana er but insurance wouldn't cover,it cost too much to pay out of pocket.looked up some ER meds my insur.would cover.here they are hydromorph, oramorph, and oxycodone er.
I know I am trading one substance for another but have tried weaning myself off the lortabs and screw up everytime. His,my doc's idea was for me to take the opana er twice a day for a month then once a day.I have legit.pain and just want to know if and what anyone knows of these meds,if you have tried any of them.appreciate your answers.

we have a pain forum and the people there do use narcotics for pain...most here are trying not to use them anymore/trying alternatives for pain...i do know that oxcodone er will be similar to the hydrocodone/virtually but is a bit stronger so if u abused the hydro, the oxy will follow...the other 2 are potent long lasting meds/morphine...not as highkly abused as oxy or hydrocodone..but very addicting..the energy buzz or euphoria isnt there for many from these drugs orally so they are abused by IV use to get high....if u simply have to have something daily for pain then i would stay away from the oxy if u have a problem with hydro...talk to ur doctor...be safe and check out the pain forum..i am a chroic pain patient and post there at times

worried878 is RIGHT ON with her analogy. Ive been where you are and have switched to Oxy and I abused it way MORE than the Lortabs. The Morphine doesnt give you that rush so you tend NOT to abuse it. And it DOES help with the pain.  Any of the ladder drugs you mentioned dont have any Tylenol in them so they will be better for your liver than the Lortabs. 10-15 Lortabs a day will kill your liver, in time. PLEASE seek something else NOW! You MUST seek the help of a family member to hand out your dosage, thats the only way that works for me.

I come to this forum and NOT the pain forum because there is more action here and more people with more experience about the drugs that we are all on or have been on at one time.
