Sounds like you are on quite a cocktail....I would want to reduce ordiscontinue some....the neuerontin isnt an opiate type problem and I use it for chronic pain....also have found a non-narcotic patch called Lidoderm in the States....its just lidocaine like the dentist numbs you up with - and it helps the back pain...worth asking about. Good luck

Now I am confused Confused! LOL I imagine you found this on an old thread and moved it here for the person posting?
To: Cora agaent double o one,
You know your pain and what is tolerable and you only so I would suggest as I had to do is be very very honest with yourself and weigh it all out to see what is acceptable for you. I did just that a few months ago and as you can see I am here battling addiction working on staying clean so needless to say I say life is to short to spend it stoned. A real funny song by Dr. Hook but oh so true " I Got Stoned and I Missed It It Just Rolled Right By".
I can tell you I broke mt back and had to have it stabalized with metal implants and the dr saw fit to do that at three levels and the break at one level t11 so in all a four level fusion t11- t12 l3- l4- l5 -s1 and they removed and replaced 3 discs as he said they weere damaged and collapsed something to that effect I will have to pull out documentation as I try my darndest to forget it. LOL
I have been on the whole nine yards for pain and then some all of what you say you are on I have been there Fentanyl Morphine IR Morphine CR and all the other little demons that dance in our heads. I am on Ibuprafen now and it helpsd a bit but I am going to hurt, hurt won't kill me maybe drive me batty insane LOL but won't kill me Dope has done almost that a few times not to mention drive everybody around me seeing me use batty insane.....
A better Quality of Life is what Dr. says is the reason I should be on Morphine right now!!!!

Better Quality????????? Okay I don't like better quality then..........
Like I said friend you have to weigh it all out and see what is acceptable for you and your loved ones that live with you. Best Regards, Mike

wow, sounds like you are on alot of meds.  are you here because you want to quit?  i can not answer the question about your dr, but i can tell you that many here have experienced a great decrease in pain after completeing detox.  the body creates more and more pain to get more and more meds.  as confused said many here live with chronic pain because they choose to get off the meds.  it is for you to decided.  but if you decide to get clean, there is alot of support here for you.  let us know your plans.

Cora, it sounds as if you are in a lot of pain and that is the same for a lot of us. We all have to make a personal decision to continue taking the medicine or not. It is not healthy for us to abuse our body with all these narcotics. Are you wanting to stop?
