I wanted to provide some personal experience with the Amino Acid Protocal. For new users of this site, it can help in rebuilding your body from drug abuse. It can be found on the lower right of the page, under health articles.
I have been taking just about everything (minus the L-tyrosine, which I'm starting today) on that list. I felt great the first week and moved into the higher recommended doses of each. However, I'm now just over two weeks and I noticed late last week that I was feeling lazy. My excersize has been cut down from 2x/day for an hour to 1x/day for an hour. I've had little motivation to work and could not really get into anything. I wouldn't say this was depression - just a lack of focus, maybe energy, just too relaxed. On Sunday, I took the last of 5-HTP that I had and was looking to get another bottle. However, Monday and Tuesday of this week (w/o 5-HTP) were great. My focus is good, I'm able to work full days (even better than when on pills), and just all around motivation is increased. I'm going to stay off the 5-HTP for now - it's the only thing that I've changed. 5-HTP is a relaxing amino and for me.. I was tooooo relaxed. And my DOC was any stimulant - so that's not good for me to feel relaxed. You start thinking about all that needs to get done and whether 'the junk' is the answer (it isn't!).
If you are having anxiety, you may want to consider 5-HTP. If you are having trouble with motivation and feel relaxed (and taking 5-HTP), you may want to drop it for a few days and see what happens.
As others have said, the protocal is a balancing act for everyone. We will all react differently and it's important to see what works best for you...
