Fentanyl Patch... Abuse Proof?

Hello all... I was lurking in the Pain Management forums and someone mentioned that they've changed the way the Fentanyl patch is manufactured. They no longer have that gel stuff on the inside that you can squeeze/suck out (so I learned when I was in rehab). They now put the Fentanyl directly into the adhesive that sticks the patch to your skin.

Pills (narcotic pain-killers), I discovered, won't work for me as the "Take 1 every 4-hours as needed for pain" quickly turns into "Take 4 every 1-hour as needed for pleasure".

My question is this... is this newfangled Fentanyl patch with the medicine impregnated directly into the adhesive, abuse proof? Then again, maybe I don't want to know if it CAN be abused and how, just in case it could be an option for my chronic pain should the Neurontin not work for me.

No, there are still other methods to induce rapid delivery without consuming the gel. An obvious one being put more than one on. I wont mention the rest, but when theres a will theres a way.

If you're an addict, no drug is abuse proof.
