Finally Honest with myself

Today I was finally honest with myself.  I am addicted to vicodin.  I like the way they make me feel.  They give me the motivation to do things and be productive.  The downsize to this is that there is an increase in my cigarette smoking.  The pills are not easy to come by.  When I don't have them I feel like complete and utter ****.  I went through 2 days without them and it was pure hell.  I just couldn't function.  I've decided to tell my primary doctor so she can put me on the suboxone.  I called in my last refill today because this past weekend sucked for me.  Out of 45 pills I've taken 11 today, and I got them at 3:45 this afternoon.  I've tried to taper and that didn't work, I have no willpower which is why I haven't stopped smoking.  Being bipolar, the pills give me some sort of normalcy.  I feel better getting all this off my chest, because coming to this site has let me know I'm not alone in this.  I want to thank all of you for your encouragment and tips on how to beat this.  What I want to know know is does the suboxone really work?  How long before I feel better?  While I was without the pills sat and sun I didn't even feel like getting on the computer at all. Hell, I didn't even feel like washing my butt!  There has to be a better way.

Yeah check with her first.. and check the list.. maybe there is a doc she can refer you to that is on the list. Docs who are certified can only treat 100 patients at a time. And these docs are a hot comodity as I am sure you can understand. So you may have to try a couple before you get in. And a percentage of them won't take insurance for it for some reason.. so do your research that way you are prepared..
We are here for you as well.. How long have you been taking them?? How many on average a day??

Thank you.  I didn't know that there was a chance my doctor wouldn't be able to write the script.  I plan on checking with her tomorrow.  I will post more after my visit with her.

It's been 2yrs off and on.  I started using more sept/06.  I would take vicodin 5/500mgs and would average 8-10 pills a day.  Since sept I have had vicodin, darvocet, and now I got a new doctor to give me vicoprophen.  I switched up because of my insurance.  I have a prescription at 1 pharmacy for 60 pills of the 5/500mg, and I called in my last vicoprophen today.  I have 4 more refils of the vicodin but because of the way that doctor wrote the script I can't fill it but once a month.  I have gone to er's and have gotten them.  That's when I realized that it was getting out of hand.  I mentioned in an earlier post that my primary has some idea that I have been abusing them.  The last thing she called in was tylenol 3's and that was becaused I begged.  Today I took 11 pills.  I have increased my intake during the past 3months.  I can go through 60 pills in 4 days, and that was me calling myself tapering off.  Getting this off my chest has made me feel better, but I honestly need a cigarette now, especially after reading what I just wrote.
