Fioricet with codeine

Fioricet with codeine

I've been taking Fioricet with Codeine for 5 years now for my migraines and I can't even imagine my life without it. I'm only 18, started when I was 13, and I've tried so many different medications for migraine prevention and zapping the migraines when I get them. Nothing else has come close to doing what the Fioricet with Codeine does. I take them almost everyday though when I have them(I'm only allowed 1 bottle per month, so I have to ration them sometimes) and I find I take them when I need a mood lift as well. I've also experimented with recreational drugs, and I don't even like them as much as I like my fioricet. I've tried telling my doctor I'm dependent on these, but I haven't been able to find any other medications that work for my migraines. I don't know what to do, but I know I can't go on living like this. I'm just trying to finish my last 3 months of high school but I'm only at school half the time because the other half I either am suffering from a migraine or a rebound headache from the Fioricet with Codeine. Right now I haven't taken them in 3 days because I ran out, and I'm not getting more for at least 2 weeks. I'm freaking out, can't sleep at all at night, have this constant headache and irritation, and I'm just so frustrated because I've been going through this cycle for years. I need to fix this now because I'll be going to college this fall and I can't do it the way I'm living now. Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated.

Jane--    You need to call your doctor right away.  You should never stop the Fioricet abruptly. The codeine portion is not a problem as far as stopping or going without. But the Fioricet will very likely cause a seizure.and it doesn't happen the next day!  It could be five days and BAM! Or even 2 weeks. So,don't mess with this. Call the doctor and get on a taper plan for the Fioricet!
