Fiornal with Codeine -- any experiences out there????

Does anyone here have any experience with taking fiornal with codeine?  I am prone to daily chronic headaches and migraines, and have been taking hydros non-stop for, God, I don't know how long -- close to 10 years??  Well, not really non-stop.  Had two pregnancies in there and didn't take any.  Didn't really become addicted (and taking more than I REALLY need for pain) until much more recently, like maybe the last year or two.  Anyway, I still need something prescription-strength for the tension headaches to prevent them from developing into full-blown migraines, and I'd like to stop taking the hydros (if I can do it).  I don't really get a "high" feeling from taking fiornal, but find that it does take away most (not all) of the pain, most of the time anyway.  I'm not really into trading one addiction for another though at this point.  I was just curious as to whether anyone out there ever took that medication long-term and what their experience was.  Thanks so much!

I'm 41 years old and have been suffering from migraines since I was 17.  Fiornal always was my cure since none of the "new" meds that came out in shots and pills work on me.  I'm know starting to get them more often due to working a lot, went back to school, left an abusive marriage which I received a concussion from and the Fiornal is not working as well and I don't have any insurance yet.  They are very painful and I'm becoming dependent on Fiornal and know the withdrawal is TERRIBLE!!!  Does anyone have any solutions?

Thank you!  I did realize that there is also fiornal WITHOUT codeine.....but unfortunately, for me, I think it's the codeine in combination with the other medications in the fiornal that help me with the daily tension headaches.  Bad for me!  You're right though, I think that perhaps just the fiornal alone is NOT addicting (harder to get addicted to just aspirin, a little caffeine, and that other thing that's in it).  I've never "enjoyed" the feeling I get from codeine (i.e., it doesn't do much for me other than sorta taking away some of the pain sometimes), so I was thinking maybe it wasn't quite as addicting as the hydros.....but maybe I'm wrong.  That's why I was curious about anyone else's experience with it.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, from one headache sufferer to another!! :-)

I have migraines, too, and take Fiorinal, but not with Codeine. I also don't have headaches as often as you, poor thing!!! The Fiornal has never made me feel any different, meaning high, just maybe a little sleepy, but nothing good enough for me to abuse it, lol. The Codeine is prob the addictive part...I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have experience with part of that med, but the others on this forum will prob be able to answer your questions in greater depth!
