First Time

This is my first time posting although I have read many times what everybody else has to say.Today is my first day clean from a 4 year vicodin addiction.I have tried quitting several times before but never longer then 2 or 3 weeks.I also go back for energy and a feel good feeling.This time I want to stay clean.I have to take a drug test soon and I know I have to quit for that so Iam using that as my excuse to this time do it for good.I just hate what iam going to go through for the next 3 or 4 days.

Congrats on your first day! A lot of people here have had them, me included. How do you feel? Any w/d's yet? Please feel free to post any questions..or just vent..whatever you need. This is the place to do it. You will find a lot of support here.

I actually dont feel too bad today.I dont have any energy which I new would be the case but more then I thought I would have.I cut the grass! I am dreading tonight trying to sleep and even more the next few nights.

Perhaps I mention it too much but if you can call your doctor and get clonidine, it helps a great deal with withdrawal symptoms..it's a blood pressure medication that many of us have found great success with.  Also search for the Thomas recipe on here which also has a number of things that can help.

It is always good to have a reason to quit using so try and make this your last withdrawal, last aches and pains you get from the pain meds and the last of everything those pain meds did to you. It sounds so good to hear when someone says they took drugs for the last time and they are turning their life around. You said you are trying to get a new job and this is your first time posting here, so it's a perfect time to do it. You will have a whole group of ppl here to encourge you along the way so just do it!

Last night was the first night off.All in all not too bad.I normally was taking 5 or 6 vicodin hp a day for the last 2 or 3 years with some minor 1 or 2 week breaks maybe 5 breaks total.I took 3 cvs sllep aid pills last night and they actually worked.I had a liile hard time falling asleep and of course the awful restless legs and a new one for me is my twitching left arm.I also broke into a couple of sweats maybe twice but i think i got 5 or 6 hours sleep.Not bad at all.I slept in a spare bed we have last night and I told my wife I THink I have the flu till this all goes away.I have heard about the Thomas recipe and I completely beleive in it and use it.I also think even though this is day 2 im going to try and walk on the treadmill for 15 or 20 minutes and eat a ton of protein.my appetitte is pretty good.
