First post my story

I started taking vic 5-500 about 11 months ago for abdominal pain due to a failed surgery, After about 5 months they werent strong enough the doc switched me to perc 5-325 as needed and oxy 20mg 3xper day. I was fine on this for awhile but started taking more percs 5-6 per day and 5-6 of the oxys a day. It was getting out of control.

I finally had surg to fix the prob 4 weeks ago. They sent me home on dulodin(sp) and it was going fine. I was almost off of that when I started chasing the buzz again ( how stupid was that). I finished the dulodin and started back on the oxys taking only 2 per day and 1-2 percs per day I am 27 hours c/t from that dosage. I am a little chilly and seem very depressed. How long will this last? Was this to much to stop at once? How long will the depression last? Should I go see My doc?

The surg was a success and I am in no longer in pain.

You should probably call your dr. and tell him that you are trying to stop the pain meds. What your are expereincing is withdrawal. Ask your Dr. for clonodine, and requip or carbidpoa. The clonodine will help with chills/hot or cold flashes. ANd the requip and or carbidopa is for Restless Legs. Your dr. may choose to have you taper off the meds...this will eliminate severe w/d..you may still experience it, somewhat, but not to the extent most do.

I was up to about 1000mgs of Oxy Contin a day, for almost three years...My W/D was a full blown nightmare...Good Luck to you...

Welcome to the forum, and keep posting. THis forum will help you in your recovery..

You're stort is a lot like mine in that I found the pain meds right after surgery.  It would be very helpful to you if you were to go to your doc and tell him what you are experiencing... ask him for clonidine for the bad symptoms and to ween you off slowly.
