Question please..............I was buying my amino's and I saw L-tryptophan on the shelf.
Would it be better to take this than the 5HTP? Is it the same? Or Maybe take both?
Thank you............................

YOu only need one.. I would take the 5HTP since tryptophan is made into 5HTP prior to being serotonin.. you can skip a step by taking the 5HTP.. also  actual tryptophan was pulled off the shelves in the 80's its available by prescrition only now.. so I would be leary of anything claiming to be the same thing.. just opinion from what I have read.
Hope this helps

Thanks for responding.Your always so sweet. Ok, I thought the 5HTP was made into tryptophan, then serotonon. I also read about tryptopan being taken off the shelves in late 80's. A bad batch came from China and killed 40 people. The bad batch was not filtered right. There are many that think it was just another shady thing done by pharmaceutical company's. They pushed the FDA to take it off the market just because of one bad batch. Until then, tryptophan was used to treat depression and it helped a lot of people. Once they got that off the shelves..........hello anti depressants. Sales sky rocketed. I know for sure that the FDA recently approved pharmaceutical tryptophan and you can get a script for it. I am thinking they may have just allowed it back on the shelves over the counter. Anyway, I will just keep taking the 5HTP.
For anyone who has not tried the Amino Acid  therapy, you really need to try it. I feel great.
