Hey Steph,

I wanted to ask you something about Suboxone. I have tapered my pill intake over the last week and am going will have my last dose of Oxy Contin today. I have a few suboxones and am going to take them to help with w/d. I am only going to take a quarter if I really need it, and so on for a few days, then stop everything all together. Is there a certain time you can begin Suboxone after your last dose of opiates. The last time I detoxed, I did it via Burenorphine/Naltrexone, and I had to wait until I was in w/d (24 hrs after last dose of opiates) to start the bup. Is this the same for Sub? And if I only take it as absolutely needed, and take a little bit to help with some of the w/d, will it still work? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks, Lisa

Hope all is well with you.....

I would wait 16-24 hours still since Oxy is time released.. Or at least wait until you are in pretty serious withdrawls.. I would only take a 2mg piece to start since you tapered you will not need much anyway. Take it for a week and you should be good tapering down the dose each day. You did the shots last time which puts more naltrexone in your system than Sub does.. So 16 hours would be best..

If you need anything don't hesitate to ask hun

Thanks so much steph...I am going to try my hardest to get through this. I only have about 2 1/2 Suboxones, and only want to take it if I really need it. Can I do it this way, or no?

Yes to a degree you can.. I am assuming they are 8mgs pills..Take 2mgs when you feel the icky's.. Wait 6-8 hours take another 1-2mgs.. That will let some build up in your system for day 2..which is normally when people feel the worst.. Then taper down the dose for a few days..

I will tell you how they did it for me in my detox (worked like a charm too) It was almost 24 hours after my last dose that they gave me the bup.
8th--- 8pm-4mgs
9th--- 8am-4mgs  8pm-4mgs
10th--8am-4mgs  8pm-4mgs
11th--8am-2mg
12th--9am-2mg
13th--9am-my last 2 mg dose at 9am

Essentially I got 13 2 mg pills spaced out like that. And I feel fine. Also I had NO w/d symptoms from the bup that I couldnt handle. Actually I felt better than ever.

the reason they make you wait until youre almost in full withdrawl (withdrawal) before they give you the bup is cuz if they did give it to you, youd be so sick youd wanna die. Straight from the nurses mouths...

I meant to say if youve only got a couple subs left, break em up however you have to to get the above desired results (if you can). I swear it worked wonders for me. After my first dose I was up cleaning the room  and bathroom in detox....I felt much better. and you will too.

Thanks for the response. I actually already did the Bup treatment. That is how I got clean the last time. Now I am going to do the suboxone tablets. I only have a couple and wanted to see if you had to wait to take it like you do the Bup. I took Sub a couple years ago, and it worked,  little....I know I did it wrong. So this time I want to do it the right way....but thanks a bunch...

Take care
