Had a 1 1/2 xanax still no sleep. they are only .5mgs. Do not want to over due them. My question is can I take a musle relaxer for the legs pain, cramping, and aches? Has anyone tried it. will it work??

Help!! need just alittle relive and help here. Do not want to go back to the pills again..

I want to know if the trammys helped get you over the hump.  I know they are no good but if you only take them for a day or 3 can it help.  You are my first hand experience with this.  I used to take them along with hydros and they gave me panic attacks when I stopped them in Jan.  But if they can stop the wd's for just a couple of days.  Let me know Lady how your doing.

I won't be back on until this later tonight but I will look for how your doing.  My prayers are with you.

My leg cramps only lasted about a week.  Then I started walking about 5 minutes every hour.  I don't know if the walking helped or the length of time since I quit.  About 3 hours before bedtime, I made sure I did some physical activity for a good 30-40 minutes.  The leg pain went away.

Leg cramps can be very painful. Mine sometimes feel like they are tied up in knots. Have you tried stretching them really good? I have a back injury so this is how they showed me to do it.
First you pull your stomache in and round out your back. Then bend at the knees and put one leg straight out in front of you. Put both your hands on the leg out, just above the knee. Now bend down further and you will start to feel the stretch all the way down your leg and in your butt. Do it carefully and slowly. Then switch legs. A few times for each leg and they should feel more relaxed and also your lower back.

Working the leg muscles all day helps too. Like taking stairs 2 at a time and lots of walking while carrying heavy stuff, or just plain old exersize. The muscles are begging you to do something with them.
A pill or drug is only going to mask it temporarily.

I hope your legs are feeling better soon. And congrats, you are on your way! This will be the time for you. I've been clean for 6 months now and it's great, you are going to love it.

my husband went through withdrawl several times  before he finally got help (11 days clean) but we found a few things that helped, esp, w/ the cramps. potassium pills were a big help along w/ a bath solution i found at wal mart called batherapy sport. pour it in the tub with as hot a water as you can stand and just soak. he also would alternate between heat and ice on his legs and it's very important to stay hydrated. getting dehydrated will make them so much worse. i got him lots of gatorade and pedialyte (they give pedialyte to kids when they get dehydrated) i hope this helps and good luck.

The flexeril are not really strong, but they won't hurt anything to try. I had some and they didnt help me a whole lot with the leg stuff, but they did put me to sleep sometimes and that might just be good enough for awhile - heating pad on legs worked the best for me .... and benadryl (up to 100mg) worked pretty well for sleep...celestial seasonings "sleepytime" tea was also good in combination..........hang in there.....we are with you!

I can not help with the leg cramps...i know i exercised and did not have them..but i know u aint gonna get out and walk girl...so anyway....flexeril is good for cramping cos my shoulder cramps up on me...they make me very sleepy tho...trams do take the edge off of detox for many....not stong enough to stop detox and i am not recommending them as people do get addicted to these...i am lucky i guess and did not...i took a half here and there..especially at night when i had the sweats...i have had a bottle of those for close to a year and do not abuse them...but everyone is different and some people will abuse them or anything they can...not a great option but like lady...i had to do what i had to do and get back to work

I have thrice detoxed from morphine due to a back injury, then shingles virus, then another back injury. One week off morphine today. I found that drinking gatorade for potassium and eating bananas for magnesium helped somewhat. But I needed a heating pad, a muscle pain cream like Ben Gay, and a $100 heated vibrating leg massager (short-term painful) to beat the cramps. The cramps caused sleeplessness and anxiety in me. I take Xanax for generalized anxiety disorder and found that saving a high dose (3mg) for bedtime was best.  Ultimately, though, I needed a muscle relaxant, cyclobenzeprine 10-20 mg, which made me quite drowsy and thus I could sleep. Also found large amounts of tonic water (no gin!), which contains a drug called quinine used for malaria, was also helpful, as was a homeopathic pill containing quinine.  Vitamins with lots of magnesium and potassium might have worked better. But the cramps are nearly faded away so my experiment on myself is nearly over. Tonight I will take an Epsom Salts bath, as the heat and magnesium salts help better than just the heat. But really praying to Jesus and making my wife hide the morphine pills is what really has got me through it. If you can't stay away from the morphine, go visit or stay somewhere where you can't get morphine. Even Percoset, Vicodin, and I would imagine Oxycontin are no good. They are too close to the opiate molecule -- actually synthetic opiates themselves. If you take them, it gives short-term relief but only prolongs the withdrawal symptoms. I learned that the hard way.

I must add to my post. I went off morphine using a taper method and supervised by a doctor. Without a doctor you are withdrawing without a compass and will likely get lost. The flexeril and xanax he provided me helped. Also, when tapering off of a high dose like I did (200-250mg slow release morphine at maximum) after being on the drug 3 months, a two-step taper works better. I failed by trying to wean from 200mg to nothing in 2 weeks. Then the cramps were so bad I went back to the morphine So the doc put me back on 45mg fast-release tablets and tapered down 7.5mg every 3rd day. It took longer, but the second withdrawal week was far less painful and overwhelming. Now on day 8 the leg pains are almost entirely gone.
