Ga Gauy - re Clonidine

by marcatj, Sep 09, 2007 05:56PM
Hey buddy, if you are in Day 1 of w/d's (already) or even Day 2, does it help to start the Clonidine then?  I know ideally it should be started prior to w/d's, but Lenalena is wondering if he should run out and try to get it from the E.R....

i think you should be on it prior to w/d's or during. worked for me.

It helps regardless of when you start it. Some dtart when the wd's start...some earlier.

I just returned from the ER..I'm done with the vikes..period.  I'm in early withdrawl
symptoms..Went to the ER and made it CLEAR that I was NOT looking for narcotics..I want help.  We discussed clonopin and the dr agreed it does help...she gave me 20 to hold me til I see my doctor on friday (who is going to kill
me for going through my last script so quick)  of .1 mg  to be taken every 6 hours..
does that sound right?

My vike habit was 6/day (7.5) though I was tapering down over the last 2 weeks until I ran out.

whoops..I meant clonodine...I already have clonopin.  She put me on .1mg every 6 hours.  Believe it or not, i feel better now than I did about 5 hours ago.  My wife finally talked me into going to the ER..unfortunately she couldn't leave work to go with me, but I just opened up and was honest with the doctor and I brought up clonidine and she agreed it can help  (I'm not sure on the dosage...maybe somebody would know that)...she gave me enough to hold me til I see my doctor on Friday.

Thank you MJ..I just went through the house and got rid of all my empty bottles.
I'm going to make it this time.

.1mg 3 times a day seems to be the standard dose. I took up to 2 at a time, but I'm a big guy with already highish blood pressure. Keep a check on your bp if you have a monitor, or just lower the dose if you feel dizzy.

thanks, GA Guy (where in GA if you don't mind me asking?)...I'm not too big of a guy and my bp has been OK. No dizziness.  I have a pacemaker and I asked her
about that and she said no concern there.

Maybe I can make it to work tomorrow...I really have to be there.  I used to have the option of working from home everyday though for now it's down to 2 days a week (Tues and Friday) until some of the whiners stop.

I am originally from Georgia, but now live outside of Charleston, SC. As far as going to work, go if you have to and feel like it. Remember that clonidine will make you sleepy and drowsy. So, please be careful driving. The clonidine will help a great deal, though. I'm very happy for you!

thank you, GA...was curious as I have a couple of sons in GA.  I'm hoping I can get to work, my mgr (a wonderful woman) will see how horrible I am and send me home.

Right now I have to drive to pick up my wife..

thank you everyone...and God Bless all of us as we kick these monsters.
